Release Blitz: Kiss and Fake Up by Carrie Aarons ~ 4 stars

Kiss and Fake Up by Carrie Aarons is live!

This summer was supposed to be an escape from the city and the demons lurking within it. Too bad the minute I arrive at the beach house I’m sharing with friends, the guy I swore I’d never talk to again in my life walks through the door.

Now I’m not only stuck hiding out from an ex who won’t leave me alone, but with someone who screwed me over before he could even be considered an ex.

That’s right, two years ago Campbell Whitlock double booked me on our fourth date. As in, had a girl show up to the table where he was feeding me off his own fork and barely disguising it as foreplay. Meanwhile, my head and heart had been completely on board to make our relationship more serious.

But a leggy blonde foiled that plan, and I’ve hated him on sight since. The ex-Marine turned millionaire restauranteur didn’t even have the decency to follow me with an apology as I ran out of his own establishment.

It’s just my luck that I’m forced to room right next door to my nemesis, who couldn’t be acting more like a saint if he tried. And then the impossible happens; my ex hunts me down to deliver loaded threats and the fear I thought I’d left behind in Manhattan. Who is the only person to witness it? Campbell, of course.

His apology tour apparently extends to offering himself up as my fake boyfriend to scare off my stalker. While the plan is moronic and means having to spend more time with him, the danger I feel is real. Having a hulking, intimidating boyfriend, fake or not, might be exactly what I need.

With every passing day, pretend date, emotional gaze and midnight run-in, our relationship starts to feel less like a deal and more like something very similar to the connection I thought we had years ago. Even though I promised myself I’d never give him a second chance.

But what happens when the person protecting me starts to feel like the one I want to trust forever?
And how will I recover if his favor was done only to gain forgiveness, instead of a chance at falling in love?

Download today or read for FREE with Kindle Unlimited!

Campbell Whitlock has spent every day of the past two years kicking himself for letting Heather walk out of his restaurant. When he finds out they’ll be spending the summer together, he’s determined to get her to forgive him, and see him in a different light. But when his attempt at faking a relationship to keep her safe changes to very real feelings, he’s even more resolved to show her that he’s the man she’s been waiting for.

On top of her most recent relationship troubles, Heather has just found out that the man she almost completely fell for two years ago will be spending the summer in the Hamptons along with their mutual friends. Pissed, afraid and confused, she tries to ice him out. But when Campbell begins to care for her and steps up for her, she begins to feel all the old feelings coming back.

I liked this romance. The suspense aspects were a bit scary (even though it was pretty light), but the overall vibe of the book was still laid-back and fun enough for me to enjoy.

Release Blitz: Like a Good Roommate by Drea Braddock ~ 3.5 stars

Title: Like a Good Roommate
Series: Oahu Naval Officers Book #3
Author: Drea Braddock
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 13, 2022

A single text blows up my life, destroys the marriage I thought I had, and sends me scrambling to find a safe place for me and my son, far away from my cheating ex.
I need a roof over our heads.
I need a divorce lawyer.
And I need more hours in the day.
What I don’t need is the too-hot-for-his-own-good f*ckboy from the playground befriending my kid and insinuating himself in my life. I’m done relying on other people.
Except that I need a roommate to make ends meet and guess who needs a place to live?
It’s fine. We don’t even need to be friends. And we definitely don’t need to be anything else, regardless of what fantasies I may have in my weaker moments. All I want is to figure out how to stand on my own two feet until my divorce is final and I can get away from this little slice of paradise that has come to represent my own personal hell.
And the pilot with the disarming smile and revolving bevy of girls calling at all hours? He’s a complication, but as long as he can act like a good roommate, I’m sure everything will work out.
Review Graphic

Jamie & Wren become roommates at a time when their individual housing situations change. Jamie bonds with Wren’s son, but Wren has more than a few reservations that have caused her walls to be higher than usual, in spite of her confident-looking exterior.

Jamie & Wren have a good friends to lovers story going on. It’s a slow burn, but I found the pacing of the story realistic, considering what Wren had experienced. We don’t get much about why Jamie suddenly decides to stop being a one-night stand king, but its clear his turnabout was an honest and real one.

The descriptions of Hawaii and the food intrigued me. This is a good read for persons who love their slow burn romances with very little complications.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Drea lives on the beautiful island of O’ahu, Hawai’i with her Sailor and their 5 kids. She drinks a lot of coffee, reads a lot of books, has a lot of tattoos, and likes to put people she dreamed up through the emotional wringer before giving them their Happily Ever After.

Cover Reveal: Just About Over You by Carrie Aarons

Carrie Aarons has revealed the
cover for Just About Over You!

Releasing January 21, 2022

What’s the worst thing you could hear your best friend, who you’ve always secretly been in love with, say? That would be telling another girl he could envision her being his wife.

I just about died when Gannon Raferty, the boy who used to borrow my pencils in elementary school, said that to the lead of the reality dating show he was cast on. Though he didn’t win her heart, he’s now a bona fide sensation when he returns to our college and moves back into the off-campus house we share.

The torch I carry for him has always been one-sided; I’m head-over-heels, soulmate-level into him while he views me as a lovable kid sister. So I decide this school year will be the one where I move on, where I finally attempt to open my heart to another. After all, if he can make declarations of undying love to someone he just met, but not to me, that’s the biggest wake-up call I could ever receive.

Until one night early on in the semester, when we accidentally sleep together. Because of course he’s going to confess his feelings now, when I was ready to give up on there ever being an us.

But just as Gannon starts admitting exactly what I’ve always wanted to hear, I get devastating news. And suddenly, I don’t want to risk losing him as a best friend. I’ve already lost too many people I love, and am on the brink of adding one more to that list.

If our romance goes south, I don’t how I’ll ever come back from it. Not only the crushing heartbreak, but the fact that we can never go back to how we were again.

Cover Reveal: The Deeper I Fall by Erika Kelly

Erika Kelly has revealed the
cover for The Deeper I Fall!

Releasing February 24, 2022

He’s a rough and rugged hockey player.  She’s a posh British princess. To win an enormous inheritance, they’re forced to live together.
This is not going to go well.

When his former hockey coach passes away, Declan Cadell is shocked to learn the man left him a cattle ranch. Well, not exactly. He’s got a little hurdle to jump over first. He has to win a trivia contest against the man’s estranged daughter. Oh, and there’s a caveat: he’s only in the running if he lives and works with the spoiled princess who blew off one of the greatest men he’s ever known.

As if it wasn’t hurtful enough that Seraphina Crutchley’s biological father replaced her with a bunch of sweaty hockey boys, now he’s forcing her to vie for her inheritance with one of them. Worse, the guy clearly can’t stand her because if–no, when she wins the contest–she’ll sell the land and return home to London. Why on earth would she keep a cattle ranch in Wyoming?

But Seraphina comes to learn the contest is about so much more than a ranch. It’s about learning who her father was and why he stopped asking to see her. It’s about falling in love…and finding the courage to fight for it.

Release Blitz: Doctor Mistake by J. Saman ~ 5 stars

Doctor Mistake by J. Saman is now live!

He’s my best friend’s older brother. My boss. And now my new roommate…

In the hospital, death always comes in threes. Apparently, so do mistakes.  Mistake number one? My fiancé, who I just learned is cheating on me. So much for being the strong, in control doctor who’s always on top of her game…
Mistake number two? Knocking on the wrong door.
The door I thought still belonged to my best friend now belongs to his older brother, my obnoxious, overly cocky, gorgeous-as-sin attending physician, Carter Fritz.
The billionaire playboy gives me a place to stay, and a shoulder to cry on. But when he makes me feel seen for the first time in I don’t even know how long, I tell myself I don’t regret what was easily the hottest, most earth-shattering night of my life.
That is until mistake number three comes along…and I’m staring down at a stick with two pink lines.
Having a baby at this stage of my residency could cost me everything I’ve worked so hard to build.
But Carter? He’s undeterred. He doesn’t just want more; he wants it ALL.
Including me.
But what happens if following my heart turns out to be my biggest mistake of all?

Dr Mistake - PR Teaser 1

I discovered J. Saman last year, and she’s one author I’ve resolved to keep reading this year. She has a way with words and emotions, that even when the setting is chaotic it makes you feel the depth of feeling she’s trying to convey.

Grace & her attending physician, Carter, have history – she’s best friends with his brother, and have known each other since they were children. Carter has been able to do an unbiased job evaluating her residency for the past year. However, when her engagement ends suddenly, Carter suddenly finds it hard to keep hiding his feelings for her. But Grace doesn’t trust easily, and her insecurities present Carter with an uphill battle.

“There is no one else for me but you.”

I enjoyed this read. I thought I loved Oliver & Amelia, but Carter & Grace have my heart right now. Carter is afraid that Grace would reject him because his feelings are too much, while Grace fears that she isn’t worthy of unconditional love. I loved the way he pursued her, as well as the unconventional methods to get her attention. When Grace finally stopped running, she had absolutely no doubt that Carter did love her.

“My heart doesn’t beat without yours beside it.”

I recommend this read unreservedly and wholeheartedly. It’s sweet, warm, oh so hot and full of secondary characters that have you excited to see where this series will go.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is my first read by Regina Frame.

Serendipitously, Trinity & Tucker meet when her car runs out of gas on her way to Temecula. She ends up as his housemate temporarily, since her prior housing arrangements fall through. Tucker and Trinity are attracted to each other from the start, but their individual pasts keep on interfering.

I liked the premise of the book, but I don’t think it worked the way it was supposed to. The plot was a bit muddled, especially as it turned out to be an insta-love romance. The timelines were vague, and I felt that the couple didn’t really have enough on-page time together to fall for each other. Even the way the action/suspense scenes went down… I was left confused. I felt like I had missed pieces of it, even though I re-read the sections repeatedly. Additionally, the way that the book was linked to the Cocky Hero Club world was rushed. One moment, the characters appear. Then several scenes later, with no on-page reconnection, they’re suddenly besties.

I think this book had a real chance of being a good read, but it fell short.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Release Date: September 28

I haven’t seen him in over a decade, but Joshua Luca can still get to me. And I hate it.

At twenty-nine, I’m a doctor and I’ve travelled the world, but just the thought of him has me sliding my sweaty palms down my jeans and wishing I could steady my racing heartbeat.

Joshua was an almost obsession until, at seventeen, he cost me my future. In one night, I grew up and let go of my silly crush.

My infatuation for Joshua is dead and buried. Forever.

It doesn’t matter that he’s my new flat mate.

Or that he still has that same sexy smile.

I barely notice how that, despite his billions, he’s the kindest man I know.

Or that when he touches me, a thousand tiny fireworks explode all over my body.

I’m completely over Joshua Luca.

Grab Your Copy Here!

In a sweet romance, Louise Bay gives us a story of two childhood acquaintances/friends who reconnect via interfering mothers.

Both Joshua & Hartford have emotional scars that become apparent when their relationship changes. Their romance blossoms awkwardly, but segues into the sort that makes you wistful. Their reconnection starts with reforming their friendship and soon, Hartford’s unrequited crush on Joshua has new life, and Joshua is seeing Hartford in a completely new light. But Hartford isn’t sure that Joshua is truly into her, and Joshua worries that he may never be enough for her.

I recommend this read. Though the story is more of a slow-burn, the story is well-paced, and there is no hiding the heated connection between Hartford and Joshua as they build on their old childhood association. The combined character growth by the end had me smiling, with a warm feeling in my chest.

“This was my not-so-fake date. This was an old, never-forgotten crush. This was my best friend.”

I enjoyed this standalone read. The group of friends is intriguing, and this installment, more than ever, has me eager to read the others that came before in the series.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is an amazing debut!

From the minute Remy met Tristan, she has disliked him. He’s arrogant, cold and thinks he’s God’s gift to women. And boy, does he love to irritate her! It doesn’t help that her best friend, Jax, is also his friend and roommate. Plus, he works as a trainer and a UFC hopeful at the same gym where she does her jujitsu, so she sees him way more than she likes. When she has to move in temporarily with Jax & Tristan, Remy already has a list of rules for Tristan, but those fly out the window when she realises that underneath her burning need to punch him, lies an even bigger temptation: surrendering her heart and body to him.

Tristan tries to remember that Jax loves Remy like a sister, and that he’d kill him if he accidentally burns their apartment down with her in it. He admires her ethic in the gym, but she gets under his skin so much, and thinks she’s a know-it-all. But when Jax goes out of town for 10 days, they become the most important days of his life. Will he succumb to his need to strangle her, or will he discover another side to the woman he always thought he loved to hate?

“The chemistry between us is like a pull that clearly neither of us can resist.”

I couldn’t put this book down. Remy & Tristan took my breath away with the absolute passion between them. Remy & Tristan had such strong personalities, and they practically leapt off the pages. It was like Jax was their buffer. The minute Jax wasn’t there, everything came to a head quickly. And what a ride it was! From their snarky, witty banter, to the awkward convos, to the heated tension between them, I was hooked. Remy & Tristan’s chemistry burned up the pages, even when they couldn’t see it.

This is an excellent enemies-to-lovers romance with lots of angry heat, teasing, and hot sex with great dirty talk. It also has a awesome cast of secondary characters whose stories I would love to read about. I honestly cannot recommend this book enough; I recommend it unreservedly and wholeheartedly. I’m an immediate fan of Nikki Castle, and I look forward to book #2 eagerly.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Without thinking about what I’m doing, I step closer to him and run my fingers through his hair, trying to understand the sudden shift in his mood. His eyebrows shoot up in surprise, but he stands still and lets me play with strands of his hair. Without the tequila coursing through my veins, I never would have let myself touch him like this. But right now, I can’t find it in me to care.

“It must be exhausting being so mean all the time,” I observe thoughtfully. Something flashes in his eyes, but I can’t put a name to it, and then it’s gone just as quickly.

I turn away from him, completely oblivious to how much I just overstepped our normal boundaries. “Not to mention you would be so much hotter with just a little less snark,” I call over my shoulder. I’m too busy drunkenly fumbling with my keys in the lock to notice his eyes widen at my honest comment.

“Ha!” I exclaim triumphantly, pushing the door open and stepping inside. But before I can take more than two steps in, I feel myself being pushed to the wall, Tristan’s body pressing tightly against mine. “Hey!” I cry. His moody expression is gone, replaced with the smug face that I know so well.

“You would hate me if I was a nice guy,” he drawls.

I roll my eyes at him, trying to push him off me. “Guess we’ll never know, because you being a nice guy is as likely as me using the word ‘literally’ wrong.” He grins, knowing how much I hate when girls use the word to describe something that is very clearly not literal.

“Admit it,” he says softly, pushing me harder into the wall with his body. My breath catches as his face nears mine. “You like me the way I am.”

“I—I don’t—” my brain no longer seems to be able to form a coherent sentence. All I can do is stare into his hungry gaze and try not to picture what it would feel like if he fucked me against this wall right now.

His lips brush against my cheek, at the same time that he kneads my hips with his fingers. Every touch, every whisper of his breath, is further uncoiling the heat that’s growing between my legs.

“You don’t want someone to pull your chair out for you, or ask you what you want to eat,” he continues. “You want someone that doesn’t need your permission. Someone that will call you on your shit.” He tangles his fingers in my hair and, without warning, yanks my head back. I gasp in surprise. “You want someone that will spank you when you’re acting stupid.”

I can’t escape the whimper that slips from my lips. I squeeze my legs together, trying desperately to think of a response. But when he pulls back to wait for my reply, I know that no words could answer his unspoken question.

There are so many things that I hate about this man—he’s arrogant, and selfish, and rude. He’s a player that uses women for sex, and the only thing he actually gives a shit about is fighting. He’s the definition of self-absorbed. I should be shoving him away from me, telling him to fuck off and to stay on his side of the house for the rest of the week. I shouldn’t be thinking about what he tastes like, or how his cock might feel inside of me. I shouldn’t be wondering how hard he could make me come.

But his words remind me that the same alpha qualities that make me hate him… are also the ones that are making my knees weak.
