Kennedy Ryan has delivered another outstanding read. I hope that my review will do full justice to the beauty of it.

Canon Holt is precise about everything that goes into the making of his films. Searching for the leading lady for his latest project has become exhausting to everyone else, but he won’t rest until he has found her. His script deserves to be told to the entire world, and the person he needs to find needs to filled with light – the light he finds in Neevah Saint, a theatre actress fortuitously subbing for the lead who is on vacation. He’s afraid of history repeating itself, but Neevah’s light, coincidentally, could be the one thing missing in his own life.

Neevah knows a thing or two about things happening in ways that lead you down paths you least expected. Her relationship with her family is living proof. Their individual journeys are just as intriguing and moving as their romantic journey. Canon is 100% as fine as Neevah describes him to be in the blurb. An alpha, he is accustomed to controlling things according to his exacting standards. Passionate about his craft, he’s a bit reticent otherwise, but with Neevah, he finds it hard to hold back. Neevah is a woman who’s determined to fight. She is driven, too, jumping at opportunities and including people in her journey upwards, as well as romantic and passionate. Together, they are like halves to a whole nobody knew existed.

I loved the way Kennedy Ryan crafted their story around a biopic. I loved the behind-the-scenes glimpses of the set, too. This story is great, different and a must read. It’s an inspiring tale reminding us to fight for love and life; they are both too beautiful to lose without getting the full experience.

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s filled with love, laughter, life and yes, LIGHT! There’s so much inspiration and hope between its pages. There are also many layers within Reel that have me so eager for the other stories that are just waiting to be told. The secondary characters are real, present and are a driving force all on their own. I can’t wait to see what else Ryan has in store with this series.

“Turn around.”

It’s a guttural command.
 He bends me over the arm of the couch, and my hands hit the cushion for support, to steady myself. At the sound of the condom tearing, my inner muscles contract, bracing for him. He spreads my cheeks and, slipping his whole hand between my legs, cups the trembling flesh. I’m unprepared for the swipe of his tongue. For the subtle abrasion of his beard scraping the inner skin of my thighs. For the sound of him eating me. I push back against his face, helpless, no shame. Digging my nails into the cushions, I widen my legs to give me more, to take more for myself. He grips my thighs, holding me steady for his devouring mouth until, with a sob that sails over the rooftop, over the city, I contract around his delving tongue. The orgasm hits hard, tightening the muscles in my thighs and calves. With staccato breaths, I bury my face in the couch, biting my lip to the point of pain.


“Canon,” I beg. “Stop teasing me and—”


He shoves in, and the words tumble back down my throat, recessing into the shock of this pleasure.


“Jesus.” Need shreds my voice to ribbons.

I hope I never get over how perfect he feels inside me, like I was molded to his specifications. Shaped for his dimensions. I moan and reach my hand back to pull at one of my cheeks, widening the way for his cock. It feels like he goes where no dick has gone before, deeper, better. Somehow I feel each thrust in my heart. His every touch plays on my emotions, and tears sting my eyes. His hand tightens at my hip, and he slides the other hand up my arm, finds my hand on the couch and laces our fingers together. He sets a frenetic pace that sends the blood singing through my body again. The cushion absorbs my scream as I come, and I punish the soft cotton with clawing nails. With his voice strangled, his fingers fisted in my hair, he comes. 


Collapsing against my back, a heavy, happy burden, his breath stilted and warm at my neck, he snakes one muscled arm around my middle, clutching me. After the urgent, feral coupling, it’s a cherishing hold. I cross my arm over his at my waist and tangle our fingers. It’s fragile and sweet, this moment, like flakes of sugar disintegrating on your tongue when you’ve barely had time to taste.

Loved it!!!

Depressed about his poor game performance, hockey player Liam Williamson almost gets flattened, but is saved at the last minute by a tiny spitfire with as many issues as he has misgivings about his future as a Gold hockey player.

I loved the way Mia & Liam bantered back and forth. I liked that he knew when to apologise and didn’t become defensive. I liked that Mia recognised Liam as a safe space and was willing to let him catch her as she fell.

This series seems to really good, and Elise, as usual, held me spellbound to her pages. I recommend this read wholeheartedly.

From the beginning, you could tell Pria & Kingston had chemistry in spades! Their one-on-one interactions made me laugh & swoon. The doggy shenanigans were a hoot, as was Pixy’s cameo. I loved this steamy office romance, and I am sure you will, too!

Review

Reef & Macy both have trust issues and it makes for a rocky relationship as they push and pull against each other.

I had a bit of difficulty getting into the story as Reef & Macy were hard to connect with. I bought the initial attraction, but the development of real affection & evidence of chemistry was hard for me to see. However, I did like the notes (more cute & sweet than cocky, though). I also liked that it was set before the events of Cocky Bastard.

Three declined calls later, I limped out the door to get myself to the ER before starting my hectic day.
The ER was packed, but when I saw Nurse Bridget, one of my students’ mothers, I pleaded my case, and she hurried me into an examination room.
An hour later, I left on crutches with a bruised ass, a fractured ankle, and an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon at four p.m.
Arriving fifteen minutes late for that appointment, I heard the sexy yet very brash accent of a man who clearly had an obsession with punctuality and had, apparently, no bedside manner.
Dr. Ethan Stewart, tall, copper-haired, sinfully sexy … was a total ass.
After a tongue-lashing about how irresponsible I was to, first, leave the ER with such an injury, and second, be late, I put him in his place … or so I thought.

This story was funny & steamy.

Having not ever seen Outlander, I didn’t have a basis for Elizabeth’s/Lizzie’s Jamie obsession, but I understood her frustration in being unable to find a man that didn’t live up to her fantasies. Though she initially came off as confused and sort of silly, I ended up liking her for her grit & determination to get her life to a place where she was happy & truly satisfied.

Ethan was a little harder to pin down. He was super harsh and a jerk at the beginning, making me question whether I would enjoy the story. I liked that he was straightforward, but felt that he could have been a bit kinder! As the story continued, however, I fell in love with the sweeter, warmer side he had kept hidden.

I enjoyed Elizabeth & Ethan’s tension-filled romance. They had great chemistry together, and I enjoyed the plot as they worked on their misunderstanding. Ethan’s daughter was a sweetie pie, too! I loved the book’s epilogue a lot. It made me fall even more for Ethan.

I LOVED Finn!

There’s nothing sexier than a man who’s serious about a woman and willing to do whatever it takes to make her know that he’s willing to fight for her and their relationship. I loved that Finn, once he recognized that what he had with Adele was special, didn’t try to run and hide his feelings in other women. Even when Adele was scared of the feelings he stirred in her, he never became petty.

I understood Adele’s caution and her desire to shield herself from the spotlight that would be on its highest beam because of who Finn was. I was happy that she decided to live for herself before she made any serious decisions.

I really enjoyed this book. I fell in love with Finn & Adele’s easy connection. The plot was refreshingly sweet. I usually love Rebecca’s work, and this was no exception.

Where do I begin??

I absolutely enjoyed this addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. The tension was so thick, the angst so tangible and the heat?! OMG! *fans self* The chemistry between Kinsley & Smith was undeniably hot. The constant push and pull kept me glued to the book’s pages and kept me rooting for them to wake up to the realisation that they had something worth fighting for.

I recommend this read. This friends-to-lovers/forbidden/older brother’s best friend read with a plot twist is sure to keep you as enthralled as it did me.

Review

Gracelynn finally meets her boss, and gets swept up in his plan for vengeance. Only, she didn’t realise how much of her past – and future – is tied up in his quest.

I tried to enjoy this, but for some reason, I couldn’t get into it. I’ve read other MC romances, and some where they were more on the up and up than the illegal stuff, so I wasn’t uncomfortable with the plot or the lingo. I didn’t feel much of a connection with either Eddie or Gracelynn. The way the author conveyed each main character’s thoughts and actions was sort of… dry. I had great expectations for the suspense aspect of the plot, but there was hardly any mystery.

A sweet enough epilogue capped things off, though, to give the couple their happy ending.

I usually enjoy Gwyn McNamee’s writing, and Dirty Player was no exception. I also enjoyed the totally unexpected twist in the plot. I look forward to more from the Fury family!

I enjoyed this offering in the Cocky Hero Club world. Gabriella is cast as a different sort of heroine – not the usual whiny, pampered rich girl. Her restless desire to be more & give more is quite refreshing. Oliver, with his cocky persona & sharp humor is great complement, pushing “Gabs” to think about what’s really important. His grumpy arrogance slowly dissipates as he comes to recognise how important love is.

I enjoyed meeting up with Chance and Aubrey again. And Pixy was still a big hit. I recommend this read.

Cricket & Talbot’s story was a bit… rushed.

I loved the plot and the story line was going great. Cricket, like most journalists, is looking forward to her big break. She is tired of writing obituaries, and is longing to escape her messy little cubicle. When her boast about how well she knows the newest, youngest senator on Capitol Hill, Talbot Richardson, reaches the ears of the editor-in-chief, she gets assigned to get his story. Her old crush gets reawakened into something much deeper, but what does the senator want?

I liked the quirky, fun heroine in Cricket. I found the story humorous, and was thoroughly enjoying it. The epilogue did bring a little closure, but I was still looking for a bit more story and character development when the end credit appeared.

I still recommend the book, as it was a fun read.

This was a great read.

Riya & Leo grew up together, but along the way, their relationship became adversarial. Riya has become a “fixer” of celebrity messes and scandals, while Leo is in charge of their formerly combined families’ high-end transportation business. Now, Riya is back in New York, doing their families a favour by cleaning up Leo’s latest mess when it threatens the business. With a suddenly inconvenient mutual attraction threatening to change their existing relationship, will the Reckless Romeo change his ways?

I loved the vibe between Riya & Leo so much. Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the relationship between the two families, too. I would love to read more about the Vaughn/Guliani families. I loved the way Sienna Snow wrote about the different ethnicities, showing how intricately woven into the characters’ lives they were.

I haven’t read Ms. Snow before, but I’ll definitely be following her work from now on.

Of the books of this round that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, Reckless Romeo is my favourite.

As a woman, and one with a less than desirable reputation, Alexa Purdy has had to grow thick skin. Thick skin against lechers, sexist coworkers and love. Jake Campbell is attracted to his boss – but realises he’ll have to work harder in order to win her over. She doesn’t need a man, but he desperately wants her to want HIM, so he prepares to seduce her, and realises that he’s the one who’s been totally seduced. However, the past that he was prepared to forget ever existed turns up, so he has to be prepared to fight really hard for her.

I enjoyed the romance. The author did a fairly good job of highlighting gender inequality both socially and professionally.

I enjoyed the fact that Jake’s personality didn’t change; he was cocky, yes, but always content to let the better and more professional person lead. He never tried to change Alexa, or control her. And though it would have been easy for her to do, Alexa never tried to belittle him, or embarrass him even when he was being an absolute idiot at times, either.

I think this is a romance that many persons will enjoy. It encourages you to understand that loving, forgiving and accepting yourself unconditionally give you the platform to do so many great things.

Zach has never gotten over Jolene’s sudden departure from his life, but the minute he saw her again, he couldn’t just let her go. Spending time with her reminds him of the love they shared, and the love they COULD share again, but what if leaving is the only thing Jolene knows how to do well?

I recommend this sweet, steamy, emotional read. I think it may be my favourite of these May 31 releases. Zach & Jolene had insane chemistry and a special connection that neither distance nor time could destroy. I loved that Jolene was brave enough to fight her fears. I also liked that Zach was patient enough to wait for her to figure out her next moves. I loved the glimpse we got of Italy, too. It was picturesque, and set off that bit of wanderlust in me.

The epilogue was more than just a nice touch; it gave me the feels. It was like frosting on a really good cake, and it made me fall in love with Zach & Jolene all over again.

I loved this romance!

Its hero, Camden Reid, was pretty perfect as far as imaginary boyfriends go. He was irreverently funny, cocky, and very sweet. Quinn is a sassy, independent woman who’s unafraid of hard work and challenge. Together, they were amazing, with a chemistry that burned hot. I loved their banter.

I enjoyed this read. I liked the way that the couple got their second chance, and I loved the way Paola’s character shone throughout the book.

I definitely have to look up more of the author’s work. I also need to read Simon & Bridget’s Hogue’s story – I’ve come across their characters twice now, and their story seems to be one I will truly enjoy.

Review

I am a newbie to T.L. Smith’s work, so I am unfamiliar with her style, but I did not enjoy this story at all.

I get that the characters are supposed to have mad sexual tension between them, but I didn’t feel an iota of a connection between them. There was just a lot of hate, lust, distrust, and then “I love you”, which didn’t convince me at all.

Whiskey was awful to Carla, and treated her like chattel for the whole story. For her part, Carla at least tried to stick up for herself and fight back, though I thought most of her efforts could have been stronger. I would have liked to see Whiskey squirm more and beg for forgiveness a bit longer.

So, it’s not a book I would recommend.

Review

In the beginning, we meet a seemingly self-absorbed, indifferent Rachel who seems to care more about appearances than anything else. As the book continues, however, we see that Rachel has issues stemming from a lack of parental attention. She’s not a typical rich girl, yet in some ways, she is a typical rich girl, as she tends to use her money and influence to move things along, even when it makes others uncomfortable. Rachel hasn’t made many serious efforts to make friends, as she’s afraid of letting people in if they only plan to leave. Adam, she figures, is only a means to an end. She comforts herself with the fact that he’s also using her. As feelings enter their arrangement, she attempts to shut down, which is her modus operandi. When a personal tragedy upends her world, she’s forced to admit that life without feelings – especially love – would be a waste of time.

So, this book was a little hard to follow at some parts. It was obvious before the first chapter was through that you needed to have read book 1 (I didn’t) to be able to make the necessary connections in book 2. Otherwise, it was a typical teenage/YA novel, with a rocky romantic relationship and adult/child tensions as well as peer issues and rivalries.

I loved that there was a consistent sports theme throughout. I only wished we had gotten inside Adam’s head even if only for a couple chapters, or an extended epilogue. We discover a lot about Rachel, but we never really got to know Adam. Otherwise, the book wasn’t a terrible read at all. It just took a while for the plot to move.

Just before Saylor is to leave Kilgore for good, she meets a man that makes her wish that she had more time – the same man whose career she managed to unwittingly torpedo months earlier. When her wish is granted, she finds that old grudges have no place in their lives, but may still have the power to ruin their new romance.

This is another fun, steamy and intriguing read by Lani Lynn Vale. I love that her characters aren’t cookie cutter perfect; they have quirks and flaws. I love how she manages to pair her characters up with persons who seem so perfect.

I am looking forward to the next installment.

I thought I loved Bolivia, but James & Miranda have stolen the show.

Miranda is young, yet cannot be called naive. Still reeling from a breakup, she’s not eager to be in a new relationship, yet James somehow manages to sneak past her walls – repeatedly – through clever manipulations. She’s worried by what society might think about them, but something always keeps her coming back 😉

I liked James immediately. I saw James as the deeper feeler/thinker of the group when I first met him in “To Have and Hate”. He was also one to persist until he got what he wanted. These two personality traits were amplified in “(Not) The One”. The mix of confidence & sophistication he had going on was sexy. I also loved the way he would draw Miranda in with humor. He had a sort of wit that made me wish he was real.

I recommend this steamy yet sweet-in-its-own-way romance. I look forward to reading Griff’s story.

This was a good read.

Patton is a man who is driven by the need to solve all the problems that plague his friends. He feels responsible for the issues that currently affect them. This weight – in addition to trying to impress his father – is heavy. Raquel is a breath of fresh air that he never expected, didn’t want, but just after a short while, realises that she is the very thing he needed.

I liked Raquel & her spunk. She was intimidated by Patton’s attitude, but she never let it make her shut up or change her mindset completely. It was sweet watching Raquel & Patton tiptoe around their attraction, and even sweeter watching as love softened Patton’s sharper edges.

I recommend this book. It’s fun, sweet, & steamy. Grab a copy today!

Samantha Riley & Aidan Winters will capture your attention and leave you wanting more long after you’ve read their story.

Theirs is in no way a typical office romance story; the author created a story that intrigued as well as enchanted. There’s never a dull moment as these two struggle with overcoming stereotypes and learning to fight for each other.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It is a great precursor to what seems to be a great series.
