#BlogTour: Reel by @kennedyrwrites ~ #5stars

“Emotional, layered, sexy, and deeply satisfying, with stunning prose and a sweeping storyline, REEL is everything that has Kennedy Ryan fans devouring her books.”
— Lexi Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

Reel, an all new epic CONTEMPORARY STANDALONE love story from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kennedy Ryan, is available now!

One moment in the spotlight.

For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine.
I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night.
Canon Holt.
Famous film director.
Fascinating. Talented. Fine.
Before I could catch my breath, everything changed.
I went from backstage Broadway to center stage Hollywood.
From being unknown, to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips.
Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic, catapulting me into another stratosphere.

But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.
Forbidden attraction, scandal and circumstances beyond my control jeopardize my dream.
Could this one shot—the role of a lifetime, the love of a lifetime—cost me everything?

Kennedy Ryan has delivered another outstanding read. I hope that my review will do full justice to the beauty of it.

Canon Holt is precise about everything that goes into the making of his films. Searching for the leading lady for his latest project has become exhausting to everyone else, but he won’t rest until he has found her. His script deserves to be told to the entire world, and the person he needs to find needs to filled with light – the light he finds in Neevah Saint, a theatre actress fortuitously subbing for the lead who is on vacation. He’s afraid of history repeating itself, but Neevah’s light, coincidentally, could be the one thing missing in his own life.

“…she will burn me inside out…”

Neevah knows a thing or two about things happening in ways that lead you down paths you least expected. Her relationship with her family is living proof. Yet, the opportunity to be in a project with the Canon Holt is a path that, once taken, opens her to a different view of life and love, but it could end up leading her back to the place she ran so far away from.

“In his arms, risk weighs less than this necessary passion.”

Canon & Neevah’s story is beautiful, fun, exciting and profound. It’s different, but then, Kennedy Ryan always has a different love story to give. Their individual journeys are just as intriguing and moving as their romantic journey. Canon is 100% as fine as Neevah describes him to be in the blurb. An alpha, he is accustomed to controlling things according to his exacting standards. Passionate about his craft, he’s a bit reticent otherwise, but with Neevah, he finds it hard to hold back. Neevah is a woman who’s determined to fight. She is driven, too, jumping at opportunities and including people in her journey upwards, as well as romantic and passionate. Together, they are like halves to a whole nobody knew existed.

I loved the way Kennedy Ryan crafted their story around a biopic. I loved the behind-the-scenes glimpses of the set, too. This story is great, different and a must read. It’s an inspiring tale reminding us to fight for love and life; they are both too beautiful to lose without getting the full experience.

“Did you live or just wait for death to come?”

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s filled with love, laughter, life and yes, LIGHT! There’s so much inspiration and hope between its pages. There are also many layers within Reel that have me so eager for the other stories that are just waiting to be told. The secondary characters are real, present and are a driving force all on their own. I can’t wait to see what else Ryan has in store with this series.

“Turn around.”

It’s a guttural command.
He bends me over the arm of the couch, and my hands hit the cushion for support, to steady myself. At the sound of the condom tearing, my inner muscles contract, bracing for him. He spreads my cheeks and, slipping his whole hand between my legs, cups the trembling flesh. I’m unprepared for the swipe of his tongue. For the subtle abrasion of his beard scraping the inner skin of my thighs. For the sound of him eating me. I push back against his face, helpless, no shame. Digging my nails into the cushions, I widen my legs to give me more, to take more for myself. He grips my thighs, holding me steady for his devouring mouth until, with a sob that sails over the rooftop, over the city, I contract around his delving tongue. The orgasm hits hard, tightening the muscles in my thighs and calves. With staccato breaths, I bury my face in the couch, biting my lip to the point of pain.

“Canon,” I beg. “Stop teasing me and—”

He shoves in, and the words tumble back down my throat, recessing into the shock of this pleasure.

“Jesus.” Need shreds my voice to ribbons.

He coasts his hand up my back, gently cuffs my neck. Ass in the air, I rise up on my toes, begging for breath, petitioning for more dick. He gives it to me, pushing impossibly deeper.

“So damn good,” he grunts behind me.

I hope I never get over how perfect he feels inside me, like I was molded to his specifications. Shaped for his dimensions. I moan and reach my hand back to pull at one of my cheeks, widening the way for his cock. It feels like he goes where no dick has gone before, deeper, better. Somehow I feel each thrust in my heart. His every touch plays on my emotions, and tears sting my eyes. His hand tightens at my hip, and he slides the other hand up my arm, finds my hand on the couch and laces our fingers together. He sets a frenetic pace that sends the blood singing through my body again. The cushion absorbs my scream as I come, and I punish the soft cotton with clawing nails. With his voice strangled, his fingers fisted in my hair, he comes.

Collapsing against my back, a heavy, happy burden, his breath stilted and warm at my neck, he snakes one muscled arm around my middle, clutching me. After the urgent, feral coupling, it’s a cherishing hold. I cross my arm over his at my waist and tangle our fingers. It’s fragile and sweet, this moment, like flakes of sugar disintegrating on your tongue when you’ve barely had time to taste.

Liam Williamson was a legend in the NHL.

Or rather . . . his family was legend.

He was the least talented of his family of hockey players—with his father and two older brothers seriously outplaying, outscoring, and out-succeeding Liam’s limited achievements. He’d been traded to four teams in as many years and it was widely accepted that his career was nearly at an end.

Now he was with the San Francisco Gold, barely on the lineup and just waiting for notice that he’d been scratched from every game. His trade to another—and probably final—team was imminent.

That was that. He was embracing the fact that his playing days were over—

Then he met Mia. She was funny and sweet and the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on. Unsurprisingly, Liam had fallen and fallen fast.

But he was about to be traded and Mia lived in San Francisco. Her life was there . . .

And how in the hell was he going to leave the woman he loved?

Loved it!!!

Depressed about his poor game performance, hockey player Liam Williamson almost gets flattened, but is saved at the last minute by a tiny spitfire with as many issues as he has misgivings about his future as a Gold hockey player.

I loved the way Mia & Liam bantered back and forth. I liked that he knew when to apologise and didn’t become defensive. I liked that Mia recognised Liam as a safe space and was willing to let him catch her as she fell.

This series seems to really good, and Elise, as usual, held me spellbound to her pages. I recommend this read wholeheartedly.

#ReleaseBlitz: @ViKeeland & @PenelopeAuthor Cocky Hero Club – June 28, 2020

Release Date: June 28, 2020
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are excited to bring you the Cocky Hero
Club: original works from various authors inspired by Keeland and Ward’s New
York Times bestselling Cocky Bastard series.
Sexy. Demanding. Cocky.
All words I would use to describe Kingston Avery.
The owner of Avery Capital Holdings— and my new boss.
It was tempting enough working together everyday, but ignoring his wicked promises under his roof was impossible.
But the company had a zero fraternization policy, and things were already complicated enough.
I needed to focus on doing my job.
And avoid doing my boss.
Kingston wasn’t just another suit…
He was a cocky suit.
And when the suit came off,
He was a man who could steal my heart.
Gorgeous. Attentive. Compassionate.
I just hope it didn’t cost me my career.

Kingston has the hots for his new head of HR – a hiring decision he questions the wisdom of, since he can’t stop thinking about her. But she manages to get under his prickly shell of skin and teaches him to care again.

From the beginning, you could tell Pria & Kingston had chemistry in spades! Their one-on-one interactions made me laugh & swoon. The doggy shenanigans were a hoot, as was Pixy’s cameo. I loved this steamy office romance, and I am sure you will, too!

I enjoyed this author’s writing style, and look forward to more of her work. She knew just how much heat, drama, humor & snark to mix together.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

On paper I have it all. Wealth, security, and a collection of vehicles that spark envy,
even amongst LA’s rich and famous. Money is all I ever wanted, but now that I have it in spades, I’m restless.
For the first time in my life, I want things cash can’t procure. I want a real relationship. Beauty and brains. A salacious little minx who isn’t afraid to call me out. My equal, in and out of the bedroom.
The problem is I have no clue where to find a woman like that.
Imagine my luck when I come upon a curvy, gorgeous maiden in distress, stranded on the side of I-10 like a mirage fashioned from my deepest desires. It’s fate. Kismet.
Only she isn’t impressed. Not by my money, my power, or my ability to make all her
dreams come true. Hell, she won’t even accept my ride without an argument. But I’m not giving up. She doesn’t know who she’s dealing with, and I’m not afraid to play dirty.

Life as a CIA operative might be exciting, but living under the radar gets lonely.
Meeting someone, much less having a relationship, is the most impossible mission of all. There was someone… once. But she was looking for a white picket fence and I was headed for war.

Now, my years of service to my country are catching up with me and I’m ready for a change.
I just never expected that change to be Shannon, or that she would be in trouble.
The man in me can’t forget that damn kiss. The Marine in me is ready to protect her at all
She might not want my help, but I’m not walking away this time.
Even if it won’t have the ending either of us were looking for…

This is a sweet second chance romance.

Shannon has never forgotten Ace – the one who got away. He made one single night so special that the memory has never left her. Ten years later, he’s back, as handsome as ever, but in protector mode. Will their unplanned second chance work out?

This romance was very sweet. I also liked the twist that the author brought to the suspense angle. I had a smile on my face as I read the final page.

I enjoyed reading this book, and I recommend it.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Levi McCoy took me under his wing when we were kids. He was my protector. My best friend.
My everything.
And I was his sidekick.
When he landed an internship at Montague Enterprises, I was thrilled. Hundreds of
people had applied, and Levi and his roommate had made the cut. There was just one problem. Only one of them would be offered the permanent position.
That’s when things got messy.
The two bargained for the final job offer, using me as their pawn.
And I fell for it. The scheming. The stolen kisses. The late night texts. My heart was
being torn in two, and neither one of them cared. I was nothing but a pretty face to one of them, and an easy target for the other.
All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn’t see
coming. Hell, it should’ve never started in the first place.

Who thought writing ‘LOSERS’ on a menu could lead to an affair of love notes?
It didn’t start out as love. How could it when I vowed never to fall in love…
Reef Burton, the sexy blue-eyed football player, and his mates are definitely not
‘Losers’ yet writing it on a menu gave me reason to smile. Only it didn’t make it to the trash.
He returns to the restaurant where I work wearing his killer smile. I wasn’t to know those
squiggly lines and arrows meant something. An offensive play his football team learned at an earlier training session. Coming here discussing the team plays over coffee helps… so he says.
He’ll see what  wrote. Apart from it being awkward the next time I serve him he could
also report me to my boss.
I can’t lose my job when in hindsight I need two to pay all the bills rolling in, and to care for my invalid father.
I’m thankful he kept it as our secret.
Until he left me a note.
Responding will only lead to more trouble.
So when Mr. Blue Eyes-Blond Surfy-Hair gives me one of his spine tingling looks, how can I resist?

Reef & Macy both have trust issues and it makes for a rocky relationship as they push and pull against each other.

I had a bit of difficulty getting into the story as Reef & Macy were hard to connect with. I bought the initial attraction, but the development of real affection & evidence of chemistry was hard for me to see. However, I did like the notes (more cute & sweet than cocky, though). I also liked that it was set before the events of Cocky Bastard.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

One trip down the stairs, caused by a lone Lego, while wrapped in a towel, spewing a
plethora of profanities, and my cell phone went flying.
I landed on my ass, and then the ER.
Between those two occurrences was a FaceTime call, placed by a bouncing phone, to the number of a man I didn’t even truly look at, who had now seen more of my body than anyone had since my Tinder days, over a year ago.
Three declined calls later, I limped out the door to get myself to the ER before starting my hectic day.
The ER was packed, but when I saw Nurse Bridget, one of my students’ mothers, I pleaded my case, and she hurried me into an examination room.
An hour later, I left on crutches with a bruised ass, a fractured ankle, and an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon at four p.m.
Arriving fifteen minutes late for that appointment, I heard the sexy yet very brash accent of a man who clearly had an obsession with punctuality and had, apparently, no bedside manner.
Dr. Ethan Stewart, tall, copper-haired, sinfully sexy … was a total ass.
After a tongue-lashing about how irresponsible I was to, first, leave the ER with such an injury, and second, be late, I put him in his place … or so I thought.
Turned off by his arrogant attitude, turned on by the roguish glint in his green eyes and
the way he spoke, I left his office a hot … and wet mess.
Upon exiting, my phone rang again. It was the same number from before, and I couldn’t
help answering to give the caller a piece of my mind.
Once in my car, I hung up, tossed my phone on the passenger seat, and then looked out the window to see him with his phone to his ear and a grin spread across his far too handsome face.
It couldn’t be …
Could it?

This story was funny & steamy.

Having not ever seen Outlander, I didn’t have a basis for Elizabeth’s/Lizzie’s Jamie obsession, but I understood her frustration in being unable to find a man that didn’t live up to her fantasies. Though she initially came off as confused and sort of silly, I ended up liking her for her grit & determination to get her life to a place where she was happy & truly satisfied.

Ethan was a little harder to pin down. He was super harsh and a jerk at the beginning, making me question whether I would enjoy the story. I liked that he was straightforward, but felt that he could have been a bit kinder! As the story continued, however, I fell in love with the sweeter, warmer side he had kept hidden.

I enjoyed Elizabeth & Ethan’s tension-filled romance. They had great chemistry together, and I enjoyed the plot as they worked on their misunderstanding. Ethan’s daughter was a sweetie pie, too! I loved the book’s epilogue a lot. It made me fall even more for Ethan.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

He was someone who belonged on the cover of Sports Illustrated instead of in my small
beach town.
A sexy, cocky Australian soccer star named Finn was the last person I expected to be
living with for two weeks.
He showed up at my brother’s house on his wedding night, hot, drunk, and very much not married. Next thing I knew, we were roommates, spending nights watching TV and getting to know one another.
Those two weeks turned into more than either of us bargained for.
He was fresh off a broken heart and I had a boyfriend.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the jilted jock, especially when I knew we’d be going our
separate ways.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except he’s not letting me go without a fight.

There’s nothing sexier than a man who’s serious about a woman and willing to do whatever it takes to make her know that he’s willing to fight for her and their relationship. I loved that Finn, once he recognized that what he had with Adele was special, didn’t try to run and hide his feelings in other women. Even when Adele was scared of the feelings he stirred in her, he never became petty.

I understood Adele’s caution and her desire to shield herself from the spotlight that would be on its highest beam because of who Finn was. I was happy that she decided to live for herself before she made any serious decisions.

I really enjoyed this book. I fell in love with Finn & Adele’s easy connection. The plot was refreshingly sweet. I usually love Rebecca’s work, and this was no exception.

It was my time, a cross country drive heading home for my brother’s wedding to figure out my life after college. Me, my dog named Goat, and the open road. That’s all I wanted.
He wasn’t supposed to be part of it. My older brother’s high school friend and my sister’s ex. The cocky boy my eleven-year-old-self hated.
The infamous Smith Blackburn.
AKA Smug Bastard.
The guy every girl wanted to be with and every guy wanted to be.
The day after graduation, he left town and disappeared, losing contact with my family. But nine years later, he resurfaces and becomes a thorn in my side once again.
After his motorcycle breaks down, my older siblings convince me to let him ride home with me. Kyle wants his old buddy at his wedding, and Kasey, still carrying a torch for him, wants nothing more than to see him again, convinced they are meant to be. It’s the last thing in the world I want, but I learned long ago going up against the powerhouse twins is futile.
After nine years, we’ve both grown up, but our mutual dislike lingers.
Though I can’t deny he is the sexiest man I have ever seen in my life. His piercing blue eyes, gorgeous rugged face, and muscular, tall figure belong on magazine covers. But he’s still a smug bastard, and I’m still the annoying little “Baby K.”
Spending every minute together in a tiny camper van starts to twist the lines of hate, igniting feelings and passions I’ve never felt before, shoving me out of my safety bubble. Tension grows, and nights are filled with strain and forbidden desire.
But I can feel him holding back. Cagey and cryptic, Smith’s dark past hints at the surface.
When it finds us, nothing could have prepared me for the truth—the secrets that flip everything upside down.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for him.
He was never meant to be mine.

So. Much. Heat.

Where do I begin??

Smith is trying to pick up the pieces of his life. He needs a distraction like he needs a hole in the head, but he gets one in the form of Kinsley, his best friend’s baby sister. Forced to take a road trip together across the country, he’s conflicted by the new feelings she rouses in him. But he’s not good enough for her, anyway.

Kinsley has never liked Smith aka Smug Bastard, a fact she was never shy of revealing. But nine years later, she’s struggling to remember the reason for her dislike. Not only is Smith hotter, but he forces her out of her shell, enticing her to live instead of simply existing. The fact that he’s forbidden makes it frustrating for Kinsley, who, having always been a rule follower, suddenly wants to break all the Smith-related rules.

I absolutely enjoyed this addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. The tension was so thick, the angst so tangible and the heat?! OMG! *fans self* The chemistry between Kinsley & Smith was undeniably hot. The constant push and pull kept me glued to the book’s pages and kept me rooting for them to wake up to the realisation that they had something worth fighting for.

I recommend this read. This friends-to-lovers/forbidden/older brother’s best friend read with a plot twist is sure to keep you as enthralled as it did me.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

All I wanted was to escape the scandal.
The job offer in California was the perfect opportunity to pack up and head West.
A dark, sexy, and mysterious new boss wasn’t in the plan.
And his secrets run deeper than just his business dealings.
When Ethan reveals who and what he truly is, it throws everything I ever thought I knew
about the world out the window.
The word alone brings up visions of blood-sucking monsters.
Yet, Ethan is anything but.
Falling for him, with his dashing good looks and honed charm, was almost inevitable.
But we’re from two very different worlds, and the danger in his might just bring an end
neither of us saw coming.

Gracelynn finally meets her boss, and gets swept up in his plan for vengeance. Only, she didn’t realise how much of her past – and future – is tied up in his quest.

I tried to enjoy this, but for some reason, I couldn’t get into it. I’ve read other MC romances, and some where they were more on the up and up than the illegal stuff, so I wasn’t uncomfortable with the plot or the lingo. I didn’t feel much of a connection with either Eddie or Gracelynn. The way the author conveyed each main character’s thoughts and actions was sort of… dry. I had great expectations for the suspense aspect of the plot, but there was hardly any mystery.

A sweet enough epilogue capped things off, though, to give the couple their happy ending.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Only one word can describe Sebastian “Bash” Fury…
He’s dirty hot.
A dirty talker.
And a dirty player.
On the ice, he truly earns his nickname.
He bashes opponents without regard for the rules or safety.
Which is precisely why I can’t have him on my team.
As the first female head coach in the NHL, all eyes are on me, waiting for me to fail.
A man like Bash Fury is a liability who could ruin my career.
Even worse, he’ll destroy my willpower.
I should despise that cocky bastard.
But something about his swagger and quick smile make him irresistibly charming.
Despite my best efforts, things are heating up and the ice around my heart is starting to melt…
All because of this dirty player.

Greer Waterson’s mind is already set: Bash Fury is trouble, and has no right being on her team. Yet, once he gets there, Greer finds that underneath the tight body, pretty face, cocky persona & hair trigger temper lies a playful, tempting side to Bash – a side she has a hard trouble saying “no” to.

Bash Fury isn’t crack. He’s ten times worse. He’s heroin. One hit is all you need to become addicted.”

Bash knows he can play hockey well; it’s the only reason he’s still able to play in the league despite his many fiascoes, yet when he goes head-to-head with his newest coach, Greer, his greatest passion – hockey – seems to pale in comparison to her. This is scary for someone like Bash, who has only ever loved things and not people.

Greer has crashed into my life in a way I never could have anticipated…”

The push and pull between these two was entertaining and hot to watch. Their personalities, both strong, repeatedly clash in the most delicious forms of foreplay. Their relationship could be career-ending for both sides, but they just couldn’t get enough of each other.

I usually enjoy Gwyn McNamee’s writing, and Dirty Player was no exception. I also enjoyed the totally unexpected twist in the plot. I look forward to more from the Fury family!

Resisting a cocky undercover agent is her mission impossible…
It was one night,
A night of pure passion and desire,
A night I will never forget.
But she walked out,
And I never stopped thinking about her.
And now, she’s back
Within reach.
And again, she’s off-limits,
Belongs to someone else,
One of my men.
Teaming up with her to take down
Those who threaten our freedoms
Seems like a perfect way to get close to her,
But there’s more at stake than ever before.
I never forgot him.
He was—is—everything.
But the timing was off;
I had more happening in my life than I could handle.
And now, with him right there,
I can feel how much I’ve missed:
His touch, his scent, his taste.
Except, there’s more on the line
Than a love affair.
We have to keep it professional.
But can I do that when
I need so much more from this undercover agent?

ASHTON BARCLAY, or as I like to call him, Mr. B. for Bossy, is fast becoming the bane of my existence.
After running into him, literally, he’s now popping up everywhere, and somehow
managing to weave his way into my life.
He’s egotistical, smug, and so ridiculously good-looking it should be illegal—he’s way too hot to handle. I don’t do hot, those type of guys are more trouble than they’re worth. Although, I’d secretly love to do him.
We’ve kissed once—it was smokin’, and led to me dry humping his leg in front of the
entire club like a shameless hussy. Oh, and did I mention I deep-throated his thumb within seconds of meeting him, and I didn’t even know his name. Apparently, I have issues. Big ones.
He makes me do things I never imagined myself doing.
He makes me feel things I’m not comfortable feeling.
It just wouldn’t work, even if I wanted it to. Between us, we have more baggage than a
carousel at LAX airport.
He’s everything I want, but can never have.
Or so I thought.

We all have secrets.
Like the fact that I portray myself as a simple florist, living a mundane life.
Which is a far stretch from reality.
My family is rock god royalty. My father an ‘80s icon, my siblings all celebrities in their own right. Then there’s me, Lyric Griffin, hiding in plain sight trying
to be everything I’m not.
Along comes Eddie, someone I find myself completely attracted to. I’m simply Lyric to him, not a princess of rock. He’s gorgeous, a little cocky, and knows what he wants — me.
But I made a mistake.
I trusted him, and he betrayed me.
Is Eddie nothing but a hotshot deceiver?
The thing about secrets, they always have a way of coming out in the end.

Lyric has spent most her life hiding from the spotlight that being a member of her family brings. When she meets Eddie, she finally thinks that she has finally found a man who “gets it” – her need to just be. However, Eddie’s secrets may challenge that belief in a serious way.

Eddie has already paid a huge price for the sake of family, but is ready to start all over again. Meeting Lyric and falling for her sassy, quirky personality was so unexpected, yet fulfilling. Now, if only he can work up the courage to confess everything he’s holding back…

Chance, Pixy & Polly provide lots of entertainment in this book. I also liked the way Eddie & Jase bonded over his plans to grovel at Lyric’s feet. Hotshot Deceiver is a humor-laced story that’s sweet and steamy.

It was supposed to be simple—drink tequila, forget about the life I’m running away from and have one wild night. That’s exactly what my next-door neighbor, Aubrey, told me to do.
That’s when I met him—the arrogant Aussie.
It’s easy to forget a night with a stranger until that stranger is living next door.
If it wasn’t for my horrific motorbike accident, I’d still be playing soccer. Instead, I’m crashing at my mate Chance’s place with no clue where my life is heading.
I needed an escape while I got my head together.
But it was never supposed to be with her—the girl next door. The rich heiress arranged to be married to some wealthy snob, and I was the arrogant Aussie who didn’t care about anyone but myself.
She couldn’t have been more wrong.
Gabriella Carmichael is a heartbreaker—the worst kind.
And I’m selfish, cocky, and won’t settle for second best.
I have to make her all mine.
There is no other choice.

Almost engaged, and swimming in a swirling sea of familial pressure, Gabriella Carmichael is hiding out in LA for a month, trying to figure out her life. On a night out, she meets almost ex-soccer player, Oliver Madden. The interaction is not fully pleasant, but is unforgettable for them both. The two quickly find out that they are going to see more of each other whether they like it or not as they live next door to each other. Even ass their tempers flare, an unlikely friendship develops, leaving them wondering which next step is the best to avoid heartbreak.

I enjoyed this offering in the Cocky Hero Club world. Gabriella is cast as a different sort of heroine – not the usual whiny, pampered rich girl. Her restless desire to be more & give more is quite refreshing. Oliver, with his cocky persona & sharp humor is great complement, pushing “Gabs” to think about what’s really important. His grumpy arrogance slowly dissipates as he comes to recognise how important love is.

I enjoyed meeting up with Chance and Aubrey again. And Pixy was still a big hit. I recommend this read.

When my college crush, Talbot Richardson—who didn’t even know I existed—was elected to the United States Senate, I bragged a little too loudly that I knew him.
Did I really know the sexiest, slickest guy on campus?
Not a chance in hell.
Unless knowing someone is following them around campus to see which dorm they live in, and which class they have at eight a.m. on Wednesdays.
Oh, and I might have stalked him in the dining hall, too. Turned out he ate a lot of grilled cheese.
And thanks to my big mouth, the paper I work for now expects me to do a story on him because he’s not granting interviews. Not even to Anderson Cooper.
But surely he’ll meet me since we went to college together? Right?
Logical assumption.
Except that he doesn’t know me from a hole in the wall.
But I wasn’t about to blow my chance with the paper. Writing obituaries for three years at one of the country’s top newspapers was not my idea of a fulfilling career, especially
since the money I’d borrowed for my Ivy League education could buy a small country. I wanted more—I wanted to report on real news. I wanted to prove myself, and even work in the face of danger. A girl’s got to have dreams.
All I needed was a break.
No question, I was getting an interview with Talbot Richardson if it was the last thing I did. If I had to beg, borrow, steal, or… even take my panties off.

Cricket & Talbot’s story was a bit… rushed.

I loved the plot and the story line was going great. Cricket, like most journalists, is looking forward to her big break. She is tired of writing obituaries, and is longing to escape her messy little cubicle. When her boast about how well she knows the newest, youngest senator on Capitol Hill, Talbot Richardson, reaches the ears of the editor-in-chief, she gets assigned to get his story. Her old crush gets reawakened into something much deeper, but what does the senator want?

I liked the quirky, fun heroine in Cricket. I found the story humorous, and was thoroughly enjoying it. The epilogue did bring a little closure, but I was still looking for a bit more story and character development when the end credit appeared.

I still recommend the book, as it was a fun read.

She’d always been off-limits… And I’d never wanted her more.
Gorgeous, loyal, poised, and all grown up.
Riya Guiliani had been a thorn in my side since we were kids, it seemed not much had changed.
Except for the fact, she was known in influential circles as “the fixer,” and she was back in NYC to clean up a mess.
Who cared that I was a little reckless?
I hadn’t turned my father’s million-dollar company into a billion-dollar empire by doing what was expected of me.
But sometimes the unexpected was exactly what we needed.
And I needed her in a way I never saw coming…

This was a great read.

Riya & Leo grew up together, but along the way, their relationship became adversarial. Riya has become a “fixer” of celebrity messes and scandals, while Leo is in charge of their formerly combined families’ high-end transportation business. Now, Riya is back in New York, doing their families a favour by cleaning up Leo’s latest mess when it threatens the business. With a suddenly inconvenient mutual attraction threatening to change their existing relationship, will the Reckless Romeo change his ways?

I loved the vibe between Riya & Leo so much. Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved the relationship between the two families, too. I would love to read more about the Vaughn/Guliani families. I loved the way Sienna Snow wrote about the different ethnicities, showing how intricately woven into the characters’ lives they were.

I haven’t read Ms. Snow before, but I’ll definitely be following her work from now on.

Of the books of this round that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, Reckless Romeo is my favourite.

Release Date: May 31, 2020
Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are excited to bring you the Cocky Hero
Club: original works from various authors inspired by Keeland and Ward’s New
York Times bestselling Cocky Bastard series.
Alexa Purdy has sworn off men, and he’s her worst nightmare.
Arrogant and flirtatious, and now International Airlines’ newest pilot, Jake Campbell has a panty-dropping smile and a body to match. But he’s no match for Alexa’s cold heart.
Plagued by a bad reputation and a bitter divorce, Alexa is determined to make a name for herself outside of the bedroom. As International Airlines’ only female pilot she’s had to work twice as hard and she won’t let someone like Jake bring her down.
But she’s surprised to find he’s nothing like she expected him to be. Even more surprising is her growing attraction to him and his obvious attraction to her—an attraction that causes her to question whether swearing off men is such a good idea after all.
But when Jake’s past resurfaces, she realizes getting close to him may be her biggest mistake of all.

As a woman, and one with a less than desirable reputation, Alexa Purdy has had to grow thick skin. Thick skin against lechers, sexist coworkers and love. When her first officer walks in – late – Alexa has all her armour in place, but soon, she begins wondering if she should really be shielding her heart anymore.

Jake Campbell is attracted to his boss – but realises he’ll have to work harder in order to win her over. She doesn’t need a man, but he desperately wants her to want HIM, so he prepares to seduce her, and realises that he’s the one who’s been totally seduced. However, the past that he was prepared to forget ever existed turns up, so he has to be prepared to fight really hard for her.

I enjoyed the romance. The author did a fairly good job of highlighting gender inequality both socially and professionally.

I enjoyed the fact that Jake’s personality didn’t change; he was cocky, yes, but always content to let the better and more professional person lead. He never tried to change Alexa, or control her. And though it would have been easy for her to do, Alexa never tried to belittle him, or embarrass him even when he was being an absolute idiot at times, either.

I think this is a romance that many persons will enjoy. It encourages you to understand that loving, forgiving and accepting yourself unconditionally give you the platform to do so many great things.

He looks like he belongs on stage, stripping out of his firefighter uniform, not running into a burning building to save me. But thank God he did.
When the smoke clears and my eyes focus on my savior, one look at his gorgeous face and tattoo-covered muscles, I know he’ll be too much for me to handle. It’s a good thing I never have to see him again, right?
Except, losing my home to a fire means finding somewhere new to live, and guess who just happens to be my new roommate? Hayden Flynn. The filthy-talking firefighter who’s been front and center of all of my dreams lately.
Our attraction is undeniable, but it’s the adventures he takes me on that has me falling for him, each new experience chipping away at the wall I’ve been hiding behind.
He wasn’t supposed to see past my scars.
He wasn’t supposed to break me apart piece by piece, then put me back together again.
He was just supposed to be a firefighter. I didn’t expect him to end up saving my life, in more ways than one.

Filthy Firefighter is a romance that, bit by bit, draws you in.

Adele is struggling with the guilt of her past. When a fire leaves her homeless she finds herself rooming with the hot firefighter she shared an intense connection with when he rescued her. Will she finally let go enough to enjoy herself, or will her past be the one thing Hayden can’t see past?

Truitt ruined my life.
His impossibly improbable act set off a chain of events I couldn’t make up if I
tried, each one stealing a little more from me.
My relationship. My business.
My reputation.
But even bad times have to come to an end. I thought that was the case when Valerie slid onto the barstool next to mine and asked me to buy her a drink.
She was gorgeous. Driven. Smart.
And didn’t know who in the hell I was.
Didn’t know why every other woman in town avoids me like the plague.
Valerie was a ray of light when I needed it most, and I couldn’t get enough of her. Being
with her made me think I could have it all again.
Showed me I could have more.
All I had to do was reach out and take it.
But all good things must come to an end too.
And our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

In a matter of days, Zach and Jolene fall head over heels for each other again, even though it doesn’t seem like the outcome would be any better than it did ten years earlier.

Running has always been Jolene’s MO. Yet, this time, her heart is begging her to put down roots with a certain man who’s been never far from her thoughts for the better part of a decade. Will spending time with him remind her of what she’s missing or will it reinforce all the reasons she left?

Zach has never gotten over Jolene’s sudden departure from his life, but the minute he saw her again, he couldn’t just let her go. Spending time with her reminds him of the love they shared, and the love they COULD share again, but what if leaving is the only thing Jolene knows how to do well?

I recommend this sweet, steamy, emotional read. I think it may be my favourite of these May 31 releases. Zach & Jolene had insane chemistry and a special connection that neither distance nor time could destroy. I loved that Jolene was brave enough to fight her fears. I also liked that Zach was patient enough to wait for her to figure out her next moves. I loved the glimpse we got of Italy, too. It was picturesque, and set off that bit of wanderlust in me.

The epilogue was more than just a nice touch; it gave me the feels. It was like frosting on a really good cake, and it made me fall in love with Zach & Jolene all over again.

I loved this romance!

Its hero, Camden Reid, was pretty perfect as far as imaginary boyfriends go. He was irreverently funny, cocky, and very sweet. Quinn is a sassy, independent woman who’s unafraid of hard work and challenge. Together, they were amazing, with a chemistry that burned hot. I loved their banter.

Yet, Rhett’s past haunts him more than he wants to admit, putting his future with Emily – as well as the impending surgery – at risk.

I enjoyed this read. I liked the way that the couple got their second chance, and I loved the way Paola’s character shone throughout the book.

I am a newbie to T.L. Smith’s work, so I am unfamiliar with her style, but I did not enjoy this story at all.

I get that the characters are supposed to have mad sexual tension between them, but I didn’t feel an iota of a connection between them. There was just a lot of hate, lust, distrust, and then “I love you”, which didn’t convince me at all.

Whiskey was awful to Carla, and treated her like chattel for the whole story. For her part, Carla at least tried to stick up for herself and fight back, though I thought most of her efforts could have been stronger. I would have liked to see Whiskey squirm more and beg for forgiveness a bit longer.

So, it’s not a book I would recommend.

ARC Review: The Rebound by Lynn Stevens ~ 3.5 stars

She’s tired of being the rebound girl.

The Rebound
Lynn Stevens
Publication date: December 4th 2019
Genres: Romance, Sports, Young Adult

Rachel Westbrook has it all: looks, money, prestige. What she doesn’t have is a good reputation.

She’s tired of being the rebound girl.

When her friend Vicky proposes a blind-ish date with Adam Marshall, Rachel thinks she might actually have a chance to turn things around. Then she sees Adam checking out his ex-girlfriend Heather. She knows how to play this game. She’s played it before.

But Adam doesn’t want Rachel to be just his ruse to get over his ex, he wants to help Rachel change her reputation. They make a deal to fake a relationship until they can both move on.

Now Rachel’s falling for an unavailable guy. She focuses on her three-person basketball team to keep her sane as they prepare for a tournament they need to win. Except Adam’s on her mind more than he should be.

Adam opens up to her, and she’s not sure if it’s authentic or all part of the game. When tragedy strikes, can she turn to him for a shoulder to cry on? Or would that only lead to more heartache?

As Rachel discovers things aren’t always what they seem, she has to figure out if what she has with Adam is legit or if she really is just another rebound.

In the beginning, we meet a seemingly self-absorbed, indifferent Rachel who seems to care more about appearances than anything else. As the book continues, however, we see that Rachel has issues stemming from a lack of parental attention. She’s not a typical rich girl, yet in some ways, she is a typical rich girl, as she tends to use her money and influence to move things along, even when it makes others uncomfortable. Rachel hasn’t made many serious efforts to make friends, as she’s afraid of letting people in if they only plan to leave. Adam, she figures, is only a means to an end. She comforts herself with the fact that he’s also using her. As feelings enter their arrangement, she attempts to shut down, which is her modus operandi. When a personal tragedy upends her world, she’s forced to admit that life without feelings – especially love – would be a waste of time.

So, this book was a little hard to follow at some parts. It was obvious before the first chapter was through that you needed to have read book 1 (I didn’t) to be able to make the necessary connections in book 2. Otherwise, it was a typical teenage/YA novel, with a rocky romantic relationship and adult/child tensions as well as peer issues and rivalries.

I loved that there was a consistent sports theme throughout. I only wished we had gotten inside Adam’s head even if only for a couple chapters, or an extended epilogue. We discover a lot about Rachel, but we never really got to know Adam. Otherwise, the book wasn’t a terrible read at all. It just took a while for the plot to move.

Release & Review Blitz: Sinners Are Winners (KPD Motorcycle Patrol #5) by Lani Lynn Vale ~ 4.5 stars

He saw her from across a crowded ballpark and knew she was about to change his life.
Yes, he realizes just how cliché that really is, but the moment his eyes locked on her, he knew that she was the one.
At least, the one that royally screwed him over. The one responsible for his demotion and the subsequent disciplinary action taken against him before he’d even gotten out of the probationary period with Kilgore Police Department.
It all started with a kiss.
Saylor Rae Spada tried to mind her business. She also tried to not get involved in petty disputes.
However, from the moment she saw him sitting next to her at a professional baseball game, a game she didn’t even want to be at but was dragged to by her blind date, she couldn’t look away.
Then the kiss cam came on, featuring none other than her and the handsome stranger.
Without missing a beat, he kissed her.
Then her blind date decided to pull a knife and try to stab him.
From that point forward, she’s done nothing but cause him trouble.
Trouble that he’s starting to find increasingly adorable.

Just before Saylor is to leave Kilgore for good, she meets a man that makes her wish that she had more time – the same man whose career she managed to unwittingly torpedo months earlier. When her wish is granted, she finds that old grudges have no place in their lives, but may still have the power to ruin their new romance.

This is another fun, steamy and intriguing read by Lani Lynn Vale. I love that her characters aren’t cookie cutter perfect; they have quirks and flaws. I love how she manages to pair her characters up with persons who seem so perfect.

I am looking forward to the next installment.

Three reasons why rebound s-e-x with my hot neighbor is a very bad idea.

1. My life is already complicated enough
2. He knows I wear Batman undies (please don’t ask)
3. He’s older, sophisticated and so hot he makes me go weak at the knees

I know that’s more than three. But it still didn’t stop me.

On paper, we’re the worst kind of match.
He’s rich.
I’m . . . not. My second job is pet sitting!

He says we’re friends.
I say barely, but I do love those benefits . . .

The man rocks my world.
But he’s so not the one.

Which is unfortunate,
Because he’s also the one who got me pregnant.

I thought I loved Bolivia, but James & Miranda have stolen the show.

Miranda is young, yet cannot be called naive. Still reeling from a breakup, she’s not eager to be in a new relationship, yet James somehow manages to sneak past her walls – repeatedly – through clever manipulations. She’s worried by what society might think about them, but something always keeps her coming back 😉

I liked James immediately. I saw James as the deeper feeler/thinker of the group when I first met him in “To Have and Hate”. He was also one to persist until he got what he wanted. These two personality traits were amplified in “(Not) The One”. The mix of confidence & sophistication he had going on was sexy. I also loved the way he would draw Miranda in with humor. He had a sort of wit that made me wish he was real.

I recommend this steamy yet sweet-in-its-own-way romance. I look forward to reading Griff’s story.

About the Author:
USA Today bestselling author Donna writes dirty stories, according to her family. She hopes you find them funny, too.

When not bashing away at a keyboard, she can usually be found hiding from her family and responsibilities with a good book in her hand and a dog that looks like a grey mop by her feet.

She likes her humour and wine dry, her mojitos sweet, and her language salty.

Release Blitz: Boss of Me by Tia Louise ~ 4 stars

They warned me not to take this job.
They said you were ruthless, impossible to please…
I said I was better than them.
I wouldn’t fall for your charm, your arrogance, or how sexy you fill out that suit.
I wouldn’t fall for your deep brown eyes or the way that muscle moves in your square jaw when you’re pissed.
I said I could resist you.
I was wrong…
(BOSS OF ME is a STAND-ALONE workplace, military romance with a badass alpha boss and the feisty woman who steals and heals his heart. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

This was a good read.

Patton is a man who is driven by the need to solve all the problems that plague his friends. He feels responsible for the issues that currently affect them. This weight – in addition to trying to impress his father – is heavy. Raquel is a breath of fresh air that he never expected, didn’t want, but just after a short while, realises that she is the very thing he needed.

I liked Raquel & her spunk. She was intimidated by Patton’s attitude, but she never let it make her shut up or change her mindset completely. It was sweet watching Raquel & Patton tiptoe around their attraction, and even sweeter watching as love softened Patton’s sharper edges.

I recommend this book. It’s fun, sweet, & steamy. Grab a copy today!

Samantha Riley & Aidan Winters will capture your attention and leave you wanting more long after you’ve read their story.

Theirs is in no way a typical office romance story; the author created a story that intrigued as well as enchanted. There’s never a dull moment as these two struggle with overcoming stereotypes and learning to fight for each other.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It is a great precursor to what seems to be a great series.

He tasted like man. Like bourbon. Like pleasure. Finally. Finally. I slid my hands under his jacket and let him open my mouth. Incredibly, with the desire that was drenching both of us, he teased me, running his tongue along the inside of my lip, letting his teeth scrape my skin. His fingers pushed into my hair, his thumbs pressing just below my ears, the heat of his body radiating to mine. I ran my hands down his chest, his perfect stomach. God, he was so gorgeous.

He broke away, not moving far from my mouth. “You didn’t say yes,” he said.

I moved my hand further down, slid my fingers beneath his belt. “Yes,” I said.

His body tensed under my touch, his muscles flexing in surprise. I paused my hand. “You’re very forward,” he said.

“Do you object?”

In answer he leaned down and kissed the side of my neck, letting his teeth scrape the sensitive skin. I let out a breath and my eyes closed in bliss. Every nerve ending in my body was on fire.

“I think I can make you a little more obedient,” he said in my ear.

Julie loves reading and writing hot, sexy romances with awesome alpha heroes. Her favorite things are books, coffee, her perfect cat, and her husband, not necessarily in that order. She’s a writing addict who is always hard at work on her next steamy romance.
