There’s a fine line between lust and hate.
I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy
playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem.
His mouth is.
And the stupid things that come out of it.
But after an emergency strands us together, and he does his damnedest to take care of me…
Let’s just say there’s one thing we don’t clash on.

And it doesn’t involve talking.
I’ve despised Drew since I met him years ago.
One weekend can’t change us that much, can it?
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
Except he left me a little keepsake.
And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for Portland’s most notorious player.

Review

This book is funny, steamy and sweet.

Drew Merritt’s so far gone for Kendall Greer that he behaves like an idiot in her presence. When Mother Nature gives them a second chance to correct first impressions, he grabs it with both hands and tries his darnest to be the man Kendall – and his surprise family – needs.

Kendall has had bad experiences with men. Drew turning over a new leaf brings confusing feelings, especially when she finds out that she’s pregnant. Can he be 100% what he says he is now? Or would it turn out that she can’t depend on him?

I loved reading Drew’s POV, especially. Through it we saw the transformation from spoiled man-child to responsible man. In addition, it was fun and sweet watching him prove himself to his K-Dawg.

Drew 2.0 is… sweet. And dare I say thoughtful? I like this new side to him. More than I care to admit.”

I recommend this book. You’ll love it.

Temptation has never come in a hotter package.

You know how people say you can never believe what you read
on the interwebs? That a hot guy online is probably a creeper with a beer gut and a shoe fetish,
not the sexy beast he pretends to be?

So I had no clue that the anonymous blogger who contacted my
law firm about his naughty website would be droolworthy in real life. Not that I’m interested in
him in that way.

Attorneys can’t go around sleeping with their clients. Not even if he
is the most beautiful man I’ve ever met and so ridiculously smart he makes my nerdy-girl heart
sigh.

Besides, he has too much on the line to risk taking a chance on
the insane chemistry building between us. We both do.

I’ve always followed the rules. Too bad he makes me want to
break each and every one of them.

All About the D is a romantic comedy and a full-length standalone.
Due to adult situations and sexual content, it’s recommended for readers over the age of
18.

Review

This is an unbelievably lovely, warm and sweet romance.

Max & Brie are perfect together. Their romance embodies what most people fantasize about: crushing on someone from afar, then finding out that they have a chance with said crush.

Max & Brie get together at a time when Brie is facing difficulties on both the professional & personal/romantic fronts. Max realises that he has his work cut out for him and plots to upgrade their current relationship every opportunity he gets. I liked that he laid it all out for her and allowed her to figure out what she wanted. He was decisive in a way that wasn’t creepy or pushy. He really is great fantasy boyfriend.

Brie is the nice girl. She’s still emotionally stunned after her ex’s betrayal, and knows she has to figure some things out before she moves on. A second chance to explore a relationship with Max arises, and though she has misgivings, she decides to try.

I liked the flow and simplicity of the plot. There were no heavy secrets, or big dramas to complicate matters; it was simply two people realising that love could still be found even when you’ve had your heart broken badly.

I recommend this book.

Review

I really liked Hayley & Dante’s story. Katie McCoy really nailed the whole opposites attract/best friend’s little sister tropes in the best way here. I was enthralled, excited and invested in their relationship from the beginning. They had chemistry in spades, and it was fun seeing secretive, mysterious Dante fall for feisty, funny but shy Hayley.

I recommend this book. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more!

ARC Review: Right Under My Nose by Ali Parker & Weston Parker ~ 3.5 stars

It’s been some time since I read some light stuff from Ali Parker. So, I gave her latest, Right Under My Nose, a shot.

My life couldn’t get any more ridiculous.

A few days ago, my son’s teacher wanted to berate me on my parenting style.

I politely told her to f*ck off, in so many words.

And now? She’s sitting across the table from me at my first blind date in years.

The right woman has been under my nose the whole time. And without realizing it, I’ve fallen deeply in love with her.

I can only hope she’ll stop her silly search and accept my offer.

Be mine.

Forever.

Single dad & self-made billionaire Holden realises that the one person he believed he could never like is probably the one person his puzzle of a life needs to be complete. When he finally slows down his busy life to satisfy a friend’s wish, he never expected to be taking a second chance on love.

Autumn isn’t looking for love; she’s content as a teacher, going the extra mile for her students. When the parent of one of her students and her blind date turn out to be the same person, she wonders at her bad luck. When their relationship improves and deepens, and the past comes to knock, Autumn has to decide if their Holden & his son are truly enough for her.

Though it moved a bit too slow for my liking, Right Under My Nose is a good read, chock full of family-related themes, humor, love & friendship.

When Ella Jones’ twenty-first birthday ends with a bang – literally – she never imagined it would be with her best friend since freshman year, Ryan Owen.

A year later, after their so called “mistake”, they’re still best friends and about to rock their Senior year at the University of San Francisco. But when Ryan returns from spending a summer in Australia and brings back a friend, Liam George, who takes an immediate liking to Ella, Ryan starts to question the Aussie’s intentions with his best friend. The trouble is, Ryan has a girlfriend of his own, and Ella and Ryan swore they would never cross that line again – until they do.

They try not to let their second slip up affect their friendship, but when Spring Break forces them to vacation under the same roof; and Ryan’s ex walks back into his life, Ella is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ella continues to see Liam, Ryan finds himself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. With their friendship strained for the first time, Ella and Ryan face an alarming truth: Maybe they can’t be just friends. Maybe they are falling faster than expected. And maybe, deep down, they want to.

REVIEW

This is a well-written, realistic romance.

I liked – and am envious of – Ella & Ryan’s friendship. It was sweet & fun. They always had each other’s back, yet were comfortable with each other enough to tease & joke around.

The author did a great job of portraying the panic and indecisiveness that both characters experience when they realise that their relationship status could be changing. It dragged on for quite some time, but I still enjoyed the book.

A fairly quick read, I recommend this book for lovers of angst-filled romances.

blog_review
Remember That Night is a cute YA romance about how easily miscommunication and misunderstandings can damage an otherwise perfect relationship.

I like my romances with lots of steam, but the way the author wove this sweet, clean romance didn’t make me miss it all.

Darcy & Derrick’s story can be mostly enjoyed as a standalone, though there are references to other characters from previous books.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

The mirror in the bathroom is foggy from the shower. The towel leaving streaks across the glass as I wipe it to see my reflection. Blonde hair in stringy wet tendrils, eyes wide with nerves and excitement.

The Fall semester starts in a week, and this is the last time I will be able to see him. I wasn’t looking for a relationship over the summer. But he charmed me and made me laugh. I thought it was going to be just a fling. One last hoorah before I started over in a new town. Not that I had any sort of relationship prior to him. Nobody goes for the geeky, quiet girl.

I blow dry my hair, trying to decide what I’m going to wear tonight. A pink sundress hangs over my door, but I don’t think I want to wear it anymore. I want tonight to be special…for both of us.

As soon as I shut the blow dryer off, I walk into my room and head straight for the walk-in closet. It’s not huge, but it’s a decent size. I don’t have enough clothes to fill it. On the right side, my fandom t-shirts hang in all their glory. Everything from Harry Potter to the Walking Dead. Jeans line the shelves below them. On the left, and the emptiest area of my closet, hang the very few dresses I own. Aside from the dress hanging on my bathroom door.

I slide the hangers to the side, searching for the perfect dress. Too plain. Too blah. Pushing over three more dresses, I find the perfect one. It’s the one thing all girls have in their closets. The little black dress. The last time I wore mine was during my induction into the honor society.

The floor is littered with sneakers, Vans, and Converse. I know there are a few pairs of heels in here somewhere. I shuffle through the shoes, throwing them aside. It looks like a minefield in here. Finally, I find the black heels I’m looking for. Inspecting them, I’m not that crazy about wearing them. But, they are the only pair I have so they will have to work.

Shoes in one hand, I use the other to pull the dress off the hanger and place them on my bed. My curling iron is plugged in and heating up. I open my makeup case and study the few contents in there. Mascara, lip gloss, and eyeshadows in neutral colors.

I don’t bother with the eyeshadow or lip gloss. Instead I sweep the mascara onto my lashes, then go to Mom’s bathroom. She has so much makeup. I don’t even know what half of it is, but I spot a tube of lipstick and grab it before heading back to my room.

The curling iron slides to the bottom of my hair easily. Forming small waves at the ends, just enough to give my hair a little bit of bounce. I open the tube of lipstick. It’s bright red. I’ve never worn this color before, and I’m not sure I can pull it off, but I put it on anyway.

The girl looking back at me in the mirror is not the one I was before getting ready. The bright lipstick makes me feel more mature and confident. Like I can conquer the world.

Rushing down the hall, I call out, “Mom, Dad. I’m going out, I’ll be back later.”

“Okay, honey,” Mom says from the kitchen. “Be careful.”

“I will.” That’s the thing about being the good, nerdy girl. Your parents don’t even bother asking where you’re going. They just assume it’s to meet up with friends from various school clubs. I’ve never even had a curfew.

Grabbing my keys, I walk out the door, and practically sprint to my car. Ready to see the guy that’s stolen my heart.

***

It’s ten ‘til seven when I pull up to the restaurant. This place is packed. How are we even going to get a seat?

After parking the car, I take one last look in the visor mirror, making sure my lipstick hasn’t smudged. There’s a bench right outside the restaurant and I take a seat to wait.

Twenty minutes later I still haven’t gotten a response. Maybe he’s stuck in traffic or can’t find his keys. I text him, hoping he’ll answer.

Darcy: Are you almost here?

Another ten minutes go by, then thirty, and still no response. Tears are welling up in my eyes, but I refuse to let them fall. I can’t believe he stood me up. He’s always been early. I don’t understand. Was he just playing me?

Barely containing my sadness, I march to my car, unlock the door, and slide into my seat. The second the door is closed, I let my sobs free. Let all the emotion welling up inside me find their way out through the hot, salty tears streaming down my face.

Another half hour has passed before the tears begin to slow, and anger takes control. I was so stupid to think someone like him would ever want someone like me. He’s attractive, athletic, and the complete opposite of who I am. The shy, meek girl. The one nobody truly sees.

With a new resolve, I put the key in the ignition and start my car. I leave for Hilltown University next weekend. It’s time for a change. I will not be the girl everyone sees through. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to be a party animal either. But, it’s time for my nerdy ways to hit the road.

Never again will I let someone make me feel the way I feel tonight. He may have broken my naïve heart by not showing up, but he is also the catalyst to a new and improved version of me.

Katrina Marie lives in the Dallas area with her husband, two children, and fur baby. She is a lover of all things geeky and Gryffindor for life. When she’s not writing you can find her at her children’s sporting events, or curled up reading a book.

A few too many cocktails in paradise, and I woke up in someone else’s bed. My ex-boyfriend’s cousin’s bed, to be exact.
Huge mistake.
Nate and I agreed it wouldn’t happen again. We didn’t want to hurt Brody. Only it did happen, repeatedly, until I finally found the courage to walk away.
But I couldn’t ignore the temptation, and I soon found myself back in his bed—or on his floor—stealing secret kisses and forbidden touches, sneaking around behind everyone’s backs.
I tried so hard to resist Nate’s charms, but my resolve crumbled. How could I not be swept off my feet by water towers in the rain and deep confessions on the beach?
The last thing we want is to hurt anyone, but it is out of our control. And there isn’t a thing I can do except give him my heart and hope he keeps it safe…regardless of the consequences.

 blog_review

When being apart is killing you, what do you do?

Harper & Nate have made an art of sneaking around, but are succeeding only in hurting each other. It was fun until things became serious. Deciding to be just friends would be the safest idea, right? What if they decided to just… screw the consequences?

Let me first say that while I enjoyed this book, throughout I felt like I missed out on so much with the other couples. I definitely have to go back and read the others. I really think this could be a series I could love.

Title: Maxen
Series: Kinky Shine #2
Author: Stephanie Witter
Genre: Steamy Contemporary Rock Star Romance
Release Date: April 10, 2018
 Blurb
They were married but never kissed.

That night years ago never had consequences…until now.

“I wasn’t into the love bullshit and I didn’t really believe in forever between two people.’’
If I had my way, I would have never seen Maxen Walton again, the womanizing

drummer of Kinky Shine.

When I met him in college he was already going through girls as if they were disposable. I had always hated him. Yet, for some drunken reason I ended up marrying him in Las Vegas. That night, right before I puked in the fake flowers and left the tacky chapel was the last time I had laid eyes on him.

Until my boyfriend asked me to marry him.

Now, I was in LA trying to get a divorce from my husband without the press hearing about it.

What I didn’t expect was that my famous husband affected me and that getting to know him would change a lot more than I ever planned.

“All I saw now was Lark, always and forever out of my reach, always driving me crazy.’’

I had only ever met one woman who equally drove me crazy and made me want her
until I forgot my name.

Lark Hardin.

And I married her one crazy night in Las Vegas.

Freshly out of rehab and trying like hell to get back in the game while convincing my best friend I wouldn’t relapse, seeing my wife again was the last thing I needed for that.

Life liked f*cking with me, though.

Here she was, so sexy I would damn myself to be inside her just once, but she wasn’t here for me. She was here to get a divorce so her perfect boyfriend had free range to marry her.

She still hated my guts on the sole principle that I was a womanizing f*cker, but maybe she would open her eyes and see beyond that part of me.

I just hoped it wouldn’t be just for the sex because this woman had always been my weakness.

She had the power to destroy me.

“I’d spent the better part of my life hiding behind my bright smile and loud laugh, pushing everything away by using sex, but that was over.’’

**For readers over 18. Can be read as a standalone but if you want the full Kinky Shine experience don’t miss the first book.**

MY REVIEW

Maxen Walton has known for over 4 years that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. He’s head over heels for his wife, Lark – a woman he’s never even kissed and who apparently hates him. Now that she’s in town looking for a divorce, he’s forced to face the fact that this unconsummated marriage may be the one thing he truly cares about. With pressure from his band to stay clean, and the sudden excitement & curiosity from fans & the media wanting to know about his marriage, Maxen is more than frustrated.

I was looking forward to this book after reading book 1. I will admit that this book didn’t thrill me as much as Dex’s story did. For one, there was a back and forth between tenses in most sentences throughout the book, which made reading a lot more taxing.

Though the book didn’t go into much detail about Maxen’s addiction, it did capture the harsher, less glamorous side of fame where privacy & trust were concerned.

Overall, I enjoyed the plot, and look forward to the remaining band members’ stories.

Excerpt
“Well…” I stop to clear the rasp from my voice. “If there’s no picture of us together, we should take one.”
“Good idea.” He crooks his finger at me, unwittingly sealing his fate. “Come here.”
I put my jacket on downstairs when I thought we were leaving, but I take it off now,
simply letting it fall. “I want you in the mayor’s chair.”
His eyes stray to my pooled jacket, then tick to mine. “You what?”
“In the picture. I want you sitting in the chair.”
“Oh. Right.” He slides out the brown leather, high-back executive chair and drops
into it. “What about you?”
My bravery slips. Whose wouldn’t? This powerful, gorgeous man sits before me, outlined by the city he’s been elected to run. His thighs are thicker than my waist, his
sleeves caught up around his elbows. A strong man. A man of conviction who will not be seduced unless he really wants to be.
Or is driven out of his mind and can’t resist.
Before I can second-guess myself, I move between his outstretched thighs and ease myself onto his lap. “Addison.”
I send him an innocent look over my shoulder. “Yes, Captain?”
His chest rises and falls. Once. Twice. “Take the picture.”
The fact that I’m playing with fire stops psyching me out…and begins to excite me. Maybe it’s the gravel in his tone…or the big fists that come to rest on the desk. No…it’s definitely the way he presses his nose to my hair and inhales. As if I’m not going to notice. But I do. I do and it makes me braver. Makes me throb between my legs.
“The picture, Addison.”
“Sorry.” I lean across the desk where I set my purse, taking my time digging through to find my cell before pulling it out, searching for the camera app. All the while, his muscles bunch beneath me, harder and harder…and that’s when I feel it. His erection lifts under my backside, so thick and glorious, I bite my lip to stop from crying out. I want to, though. I want to sob at the proof that he’s physically attracted to me and at least I have that much.
My hands are shaking as I lift the camera, my instincts screaming at me to grind down. Elijah’s breath is pelting the back of my neck. Other than that he’s completely
still, though. But when I flip the camera around to selfie mode and get my first look at his face, there isn’t a jury on the planet that would rule him unaffected. His eyes are closed, nostrils flared, mouth open against my hair.
“You’ve got five seconds,” he says. “Take it, or—”
“Or what?” Elijah stands up and takes me with him, my ass pressed to his lap, feet
dangling off the ground. As if I weigh nothing more than a child. It only lasts for a couple mind-blowing seconds, though, before he settles me on the ground behind his desk. His heat begins to leave me and I sense my chance slipping away, so I twist around to face him. Still mere inches away from me, he pauses with his head tipped forward, hands flexing at his sides. “We could be more than friends.” After easing myself backwards onto the desk, I snag his necktie and tug him closer, guiding his hips between my open thighs. “Just for tonight.”
His laugh is more like a rough expulsion of air, the scent of bourbon hitting me. “That’s not how things work,” he says, his palms scraping up my thighs, twisting in the hem of my dress. “Goddammit, Addison. You’re not supposed to tempt me like
this.”
Tempted. He’s tempted. My blood cells crash together. “I don’t always do what I’m
supposed to,” I murmur, leaning up to bring our mouths close, a breath separating them. “If I wasn’t your friend, would you kiss me right now?”
His eyes fasten on my mouth, seeming darker than usual. Predatory. “You felt what you did to my cock, sugar. You know the answer to that.”

When the thing you promised you wouldn’t do is the thing you end up doing, there are two options: 1) Deny, deny & never do it again, OR 2) Do it again, and again, and again until you think the temptation would go away. Elise takes option two, but soon realises that she may never get her fill of Luke. Not only is no longer the player she knew in college, but he’s quickly become *gasp* boyfriend material. In-between dealing with her friends and her family, Elise must now decide if she and Luke are to remain each other’s dirty secret.

For the most part I enjoyed this hot & sexy romance book. The banter and chemistry between Luke & Elise was naturally cultivated and crafted. I know that there are some parents who are quite horrible, but I felt that the religious aspect was a bit overdone. However, I still recommend this as a good book to read. The group of friends are a totally cool bunch I could see myself hanging out with.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Elise grabbed the triangle and began racking the balls, putting them in their proper place on the pool table. She grabbed the one ball and put it at the apex when Rachel walked over and leaned against the side of the pool table.

“Are you having a good time?” her friend asked.

“Yeah. I’m glad you asked me to come. I totally kicked Luke’s ass.”

Rachel smiled, but it was hesitant.

Elise stopped what she was doing. “What’s wrong?”

Rachel stood up straight. “I think we’re going to take off. I don’t feel well. Shelly and Joe are leaving, too. Shelly’s tired, and she wants to go home and put her swollen feet up.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” Rachel said, putting her hand over her stomach. “I think it was something I ate.”

Elise narrowed her eyes and studied her friend. “Liar. You just want to go home and get laid.”

Rachel blushed. “Guilty. I haven’t seen Sean for a week.” She stuck her bottom lip out.

Elise laughed. “I understand. Go have fun with your man.”

Rachel looked around the room, as if she was calculating the situation.

“What is it?” Elise asked.

“Nothing.”

“Rachel, just spit it out. What’s wrong?”

“I don’t want to leave you here with Luke.”

Elise shook her head. “I’ll be fine. We’re having fun. I’m not ready to go home yet.”

Her friend looked over her shoulder to where Luke stood at the bar, talking to Sean. They seemed to be having a serious conversation. She looked back at Elise. “I just want you to be careful.”

Elise tilted her head. “How do you mean?”

“It’s been over six months since you and Jason broke up. I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”

Elise shook her head in confusion. “I still don’t get it. Why would I get hurt?”

Rachel sighed. “Just don’t sleep with Luke, okay? He’s grown up quite a bit, but he’s still Luke. I’ve never seen him get serious with anyone, and I don’t want your heart to get broken.”

Elise threw her head back and laughed. “We are just playing pool. Nothing’s going to happen.”

Rachel didn’t laugh. “I know you haven’t slept with anyone since before you and Jason broke up.” She leaned in close and lowered her voice. “And I know how horny you get when you’ve been drinking. I also know that sex with Jason was mediocre, at best, so you’re probably really jonesing for sex now. And let’s face it; we both know that Luke probably fucks like a rock star.”

Elise laughed again and shook her head. “Trust me, Rach, you have nothing to worry about. I am never going to sleep with Luke Long.”

********

The next morning, Elise woke, flat on her stomach, disoriented, with a piercing headache that only came from a hangover. While she’d been living with her parents for about a month now, she’d often still wake up in confusion from forgetting where she was at first. It’d sometimes take her a minute to realize she wasn’t in her house in Denver anymore. She opened one eye to check the time, but the alarm clock wasn’t hers or the one in her parents’ guest room.

She sat up, jarring her already-sore head, and let out a moan. Thankfully, dark shades were covering the windows, casting the room in shadows and hiding the evil sun.

What happened last night? Her memory was fuzzy, and it hurt to think.

She realized she was naked and pulled the sheet up to cover herself as she slowly looked around the room, recognizing nothing. Nothing but the sleeping naked male lying on the bed next to her.

Oh God. No! Panic raced through her body, and memories rose to taunt her.

She’d slept with Luke Long. She’d slept with. Luke. Long.

She whimpered and closed her eyes. She had managed to escape college without screwing the guy, only to have dirty, dirty sex with him last night. And that was only the stuff she could remember.

She was never drinking again.

If Rachel ever found out, she was going to give Elise so much shit—after she quizzed Elise on whether the whole fucks-like-a-rock-star thing was true.

Elise couldn’t recall everything from last night after the rest of their friends had left the restaurant, and Luke and she had decided it would be fun to take a bunch of shots. But, now, she did know that, yes, Luke Long did indeed fuck like a rock star. Her sore vagina could attest to that.

I hate you, alcohol.

Luke shifted beside her, but the arm he had over his eyes remained where it was, and his breathing regulated and deepened again.

She really should get out of there before he woke up, but instead, she found herself staring at his beautiful body. Why does he have to be so gorgeous?

She moved her gaze from his face to down his muscular chest and stomach and noticed a blemish of some kind. She leaned closer to look at the red mark directly above his hip.

Are those teeth marks?

A memory surfaced. She’d bitten him so hard that she bruised him…after she went down on him…again. She dropped her head in her hand. She was such a slut.

She looked again at the wound, and her gaze moved to the thin white sheet that was covering one leg and only part of his penis. God, even flaccid, it was thick and long. She remembered thinking it was perfect. She might have even told him that she wanted to mold his dick, so she could use it on herself when she was alone. She moaned softly with embarrassment.

“Jesus, would you stop thinking? You’re making my hangover ten times worse.”

Elise jumped. “Would you stop scaring me?”

Luke chuckled and moved his arm from his face. His brown eyes glittered with amusement. “Sorry,” he said, but his tone indicated that he wasn’t the least bit remorseful.

And, now, she was regretting not getting the hell out of there right away.
R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.

Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.

When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.

One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.
