Review

This is my first M. Robinson read – Jax isn’t the only person going around getting ‘firsts’ lol! Verdict: I LOVED IT!

“After all these years.
All the memories.
I didn’t know…
She was my endgame.”

Jax & Sophie were a couple that shouldn’t have been together, but they couldn’t stay away from each other. Since their teens, when they tried to fight the connection between them, the intense chemistry between them made it impossible for them stay apart forever.

Jax & Sophie ate up every second of my free time; I started reading late yesterday and found it difficult to put down. Their emotions; the tension and angst had me on the proverbial edge of my seat.

I absolutely loved Jax. He was seductive, infuriating, and charming, complete with just the right amount of dirty talk. He knew he had messed up once, and he wanted to ensure that he did all that he could the second time around to win Sophie back, even if it meant losing his privacy.

“I’m going to make you love me again.”

From the very start, I admired Sophie’s strength of character. Like Jax, she had faults, but I understood her reasons. And though she put up a front, you could see right through it; she loved Jax. Her insecurities were a large part of what stood in her way.

“I don’t trust you not to hurt me again.”

I recommend this book wholeheartedly & unreservedly. M. Robinson takes you on a journey that entertains as well as almost certainly seems to reveal certain parts of her own personal story.

Review

This second chance, enemies to lovers romance is one that grabs your attention all the way to its satisfying end.

Bridget Shanahan made a mistake and it wasn’t not finishing college. It was falling for Archer Ellison III. So when he unexpectedly turns up in her hometown four years later, he can’t have any part of her again, no matter what how convincing he’s trying to be. After all, she hates him. And falling for him doesn’t exactly fit in with the new, improved version of herself that she’s trying to build.

Archer knows he has an uphill battle where Bridget is concerned, but he’s counting on the fact that deep down, she still loves him, too. But in-between his own family drama, he has to find a way to make sure that Bridget understands how important she is to him.

“I loved you back then. I love you more now.”

I enjoyed being back in Captivity, Alaska. Bridget & Archer’s story is one that fascinated me all the way back in book 1. While I didn’t always appreciate how much Archer manipulated events to get what he wanted, I did truly believe that he really wanted Bridget in his life as his partner. And after all, the title of the book did fit him lol. I liked that Bridget – since book 1 – was sassy, fierce and comfortable with who she was.

I really, again, liked what I ‘saw’ with the secondary characters, and I liked the way the author kept the books fully connected. I really am looking forward to the next read, especially after being teased with possibly Lilah’s story in the epilogue. I can’t wait to go back to Captivity!

I recommend this read wholeheartedly.

Cover Reveal: If Only in My Dreams by Carrie Aarons

Carrie Aarons has revealed the
cover for If Only in My Dreams!

Releasing December 3, 2021

‘Tis the season to … be freshly divorced at twenty-six and moving back into your parents’ house?

Because that’s my reality this Christmas. As if it isn’t bad enough that my entire hometown is buzzing with the news of my failed marriage, who is the first person I bump into at the grocery store? The guy who treated me like his personal booty call in high school just happens to be looking at spices while I’m trying to pick up cinnamon for my mother.

And get this; Porter Kelly, the broody, mysterious recluse who exposed his own secrets to the world by writing a book about his family years ago, is the one who acts like I wronged him. His rude remarks on aisle nine are the final straw as my exhausted unhappiness breaks, and I’m officially calling off the most wonderful time of the year.

Too bad it’s literally impossible for the woman whose parents own a railroad that specializes in Christmas train rides to ignore the holiday season. Because I’m back under their roof, it’s mandatory to work in the middle of the red and green merriment, Santa himself, and wait for it …

Porter serenading us with the greatest festive hits of all time. That’s right, apparently my teenage heartthrob turned nemesis not only works for my parents, but can strum a guitar like he’s trying to get every soccer mom on board pregnant. As we’re forced to spend more time together than ever, his past baggage and my marital rejection make their way to the surface, bonding us in ways neither of us knew possible.

I thought I was heartbroken about my ex-husband wanting to end our marriage, but that pain is nothing compared to what Porter could inflict. He seems like a changed man, one on the precipice of a new chapter, which is exactly where I find myself. Would it be crazy to think we could turn the page together?

Returning home was the only option I had. But as I come dangerously close to counting on the first man who broke my heart, I wonder if all of my future dreams are too good to be true.

Review

A scorching hot and emotional romance that reminds us about the power of love and second chances.

“I’m broken, but I’m yours.”

After a near-fatal accident, Noah Weston has never been the same. Fear of being half the man he used to be, he pushed away the only woman he knew he would ever love. Since his dreams were being crushed, he saw it to be only fair that she be allowed to move on without him. But after realising his mistake, he’s back 3 years later. Hopefully, it’s not too late.

“His touch was always heaven until he took it away.”

Three years after the accident that forever changed her life and almost broke her mind, Julia Blake is still trying to forget the man that seems to have so much power over her. Just as she tells herself that she needs to properly move on, he blows right back into her life, begging and pleading for a second chance with her heart. As they try to rebuild the broken trust between them, they face the same obstacles that loomed before them 3 years earlier.

“I’m still the man you fell in love with, and you’re the same girl who gave me half her brownie.”

I respected & admired Noah’s determination and desire to make Julia see that he was truly sorry. He was willing to do whatever it took – including endure any humiliation she would put him through. I understood Julia’s reticence and reluctance to trust. Yet, you could feel her heart literally calling out for Noah’s whenever they were in the same area together. I was enthralled by their story, and eager to see them be happy together again.

I loved the entire cast of characters, including those that were introduced as villains. The author really did a wonderful job of giving each secondary character a solid presence in the book without making things confusing.

I recommend this read wholeheartedly & unreservedly. It really gives an exemplary showing of how love and forgiveness work well together.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Excerpt

Copyright 2021 @Evelyn Sola

“Oh, really?” I take one shoe off and throw it at him as hard as possible. He manages to move before it makes contact. He’s not so lucky with the second shoe, and it hits him right on the shoulder. “Here! Take them! And for the last time, this is not our anniversary! You broke up with me, remember? This is a Friday night, and I planned on going out with a man I’m interested in getting to know and possibly fuck. Do you know why? Because I’m single!”
“Girl, watch your mouth. Don’t make me call your momma,” Mr. Hampton yells.
All the neighbors stare, waiting to see what we do next. Anger fuels my next steps as I stomp my way back to my house, but Noah and Greg are right behind me. A few of the neighbors have now stepped off their porch to stand on the sidewalk.
“You guys want a show?” I shout.
“Bring it, girl,” someone answers back.
“This is what I’m going to do with your anniversary flowers, you lying, selfish jerk.” I open the door and grab the arrangement. I walk to the middle of the street, lift it above my head, and slam it to the ground with all the strength I can muster. The vase shatters in the middle of the street, the two dozen roses bounce on the pavement, and the water from the vase rolls down the concrete. “Happy fucking anniversary, you liar! Go to hell or go back to your racist parents. I don’t care which, just stay the fuck away from me, or I swear to God, that limp will be the least of your problems!”
“Leave my parents out of this! This is between us, and for the record, I haven’t talked to them in months.”
“Sure. You managed to buy a house on your teacher’s salary, right? That’s realistic considering you’ve had the job for two months. Maybe you used your nonexistent teaching bonus as a down payment? God, you’re a liar, and I hate myself for never seeing you for the dishonest person that you are!”
“Why do you keep calling me a liar? What the fuck do you think I lied about?” he yells.
“You lied about everything!” I scream so loud I can feel the vein in my neck pulsing. I take a step closer and point my finger in his face. “I love you, Li. You’re my world, Li. I want you to have my baby, Li. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Li.” I do a poor imitation of his voice as I scream in his face. “And you let me believe you were a struggling student just like me, not the son of millionaires. Everything about you is a lie. Our entire relationship was an illusion.”
“I meant all of that! I still want all of that with you, and I never told you I was struggling. We never even talked about money. Everything I said was true. Every feeling. I love you so much, it physically hurts to breathe sometimes.”

Q & A With Eveyln Sola

  1. Have you always wanted to be a writer?

No, I didn’t. I’ve always been an avid reader, but I never aspired to be a writer. I never thought I had it in me to tell a story from beginning to end and keep it interesting. Then around 2016/2017, I started reading Fifty Shades of Grey fanfiction. After about a year of being a reader, I was persuaded by a couple of people to write my own stories, so I did, and I haven’t looked back since. Once I did that, it didn’t take much to convince myself that I can create my own characters and my own world.

  1. Describe your typical writing day for us.

I try to do most of my writing in the morning. I’m fresher and more alert when I first wake up. I guess I’m what is known as that annoying morning person, but I have a fulltime job, which gets in the way of my passion. I try to do about an hour’s worth of writing before work and a few sprints during the day. My goal is to get two thousand word down each day. I don’t always make it, but that’s always my goal.

  1. Where does your inspiration come from?

Other writers in the Indie community inspire me. From people who have been at it for years, to those who are just starting out like me.

  1. How do you come up with your book titles?

All of my titles so far are one word. I try to find a verb that best captures the essence of the book.

  1. Can you share with us something about the book that isn’t included with the blurb?

As you know, Broken is a second chance romance. One of my favorite romance tropes, by the way. The hero is the one who ends the relationship, and he shows back up three years later. He not only manages to get a job at the same place as the heroine, but he moves in across the street from her as well. He infiltrates her life in every way.

  1. Do you listen to music when writing? If so, can you share with us some of the songs that inspired you or that you listened to while writing?

I don’t listen to music when I write. I always have the TV on, however, and it’s usually on Investigation Discovery.

  1. Using only 3 words how would you describe Julia? Noah?

Julia is strong. I believe she’s a survivor. She’s also guarded.  Noah is resilient, brave, and definitely a fighter.

  1. What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

This is a story about two young people who find love until they are forced apart. It’s a story about family and the power of forgiveness.

REVIEW
I haven’t read the preceding books in the series, but I do think that this book could stand on its own.

Myra & Nate seem to hate each other, and their friends & family suspect that it’s a cover for how much they secretly are attracted to each other, but the couple is hiding the fact that they know each other much better than they let on – they used to be married. After one blind date where their friends and family’s intentions to get them together doesn’t go as planned, the two force themselves to be civil, but how do you become ‘just friends’ with the person you thought would be the love of your life?

We were never going to be only friends, Myra. And that was the problem.”

The story of Myra & Nate’s reconciliation was – while drama-filled – actually good. Their romance had burned hot from the beginning, and their reuniting was just so, too. I kind of felt that Myra could have, at some point, tried to find out exactly why Nate had ended their marriage way before all the drama started.

The Brady family and the Pact sisters were great fun and I loved the way they teased and bantered with one another, while supporting each other.

Overall, it’s a good read that I would recommend.

P.S. I also recommend the bonus epilogue!

First came the director yelling, “Action!
Next came the actual acting.
Last came . . . the end scene.
Or at least, that was what I liked to call my job as a publicist to Hollywood’s elite. If my client hit it big, I was the one who’d made that possible. And while being on call twenty-four seven meant I was chronically single, I was fine with that. I’d been in a serious relationship once and had ultimately discovered that I wasn’t cut out for commitment or being tied down or living in a small town.
I needed lights and excitement, paparazzi and enough traffic that the air always smelled faintly of exhaust.I definitely didn’t need one Aaron Weaver—my ex-boyfriend and current occupant of my former home and very, very small town in Utah—tying me down or making me feel like the world’s biggest jerk, just because I wanted my life to be something more than open fields and cow patties.

But then I had to leave L.A. and go home to my father, to my small town . . . to Aaron.

And I discovered there might be much more to him than I’d ever expected.

In fact, I discovered that I might have missed out on the best end scene of my life by letting him go at all.

Never have I ever…moved in with a guy after dating him for only three weeks.
Just kidding. That’s exactly what I did.
And like most of you are probably thinking, it inevitably blew up in my face when we broke up two days after signing our lease.
Now, I’m stuck living with my ex. The same man who turned my life completely upside down in record time.
For. Six. Whole. Months.
It doesn’t matter how many times he flashes those abs at me after a shower, or how close his bedroom is to mine. I will resist him because he’s simply not the right guy for me.
But if I thought he’d done a number on me before, that’s nothing compared to what happens after I finally learn the secret he’s been keeping from me this entire time.

We touch down on the helipad near Patriot’s Point where we left from. The slab of concrete is on the edge of the now mostly empty parking lot, the park having closed over an hour ago. The sun has lowered in the sky, painting it a pink hue with notes of orange and gold.
West does some more talking into his radio headset while going through the process of shutting the aircraft down, flipping switches and pushing buttons. After I’ve had time to take stock of everything, I realize that I’m coming down from a small adrenaline rush. My chest is heaving, my heart still racing.
Now I really get West’s love for flying. It gives you a high like no other.
Helicopter heroin.
The blades slowly stop rotating until the whooping sound of their spinning eventually ceases. West removes his headphones and unstraps himself. Then he leans over and repeats the same process with me.
But once he has my straps unbuckled, he falls back into his own seat.
Slowly removes his aviators—
And spreads his legs.
It’s only then that I notice the tent between his legs.
“Does that happen every time you fly?” I ask, my gaze lasered in on his lap. “Or is that special for me?”
“It’s always for you,” he answers roughly. “That’s the fucking problem. Nothing does it for me anymore but you. The other night when you went out for drinks with the girls, my hand could barely get the job done, even though it was your naked body I pictured in my head the entire time. It’s like nothing will satisfy except the real you.”
I tsk my tongue. “Poor baby. What do you recommend for the pain?”
He unbuckles his belt, lowers his zipper. “I just gave you a ride.” He reaches inside his briefs, palming his erection. “Now, it’s your turn to give me a nice…long…ride.”
I lick my lips unconsciously, feeling my nipples pucker underneath my breezy, linen dress. “These windows aren’t exactly tinted.”
“No one’s around,” he growls, his face reddening with burning lust. “Plus, the cockpit is facing those trees. No one can see us at this angle.”
My pulse jumps at the word cock.
Wriggling his hips, he shoves his shorts and briefs down past his manhood, freeing his rod until it’s rising straight up in the air. When he wraps his fist around the base, I flashback to how he looked handling the control stick. Gripping it so tight, his fingers absently stroking it when he was letting the aircraft coast.
My God, I never thought helicopters could be so sexual.
I’ll never be able to look at any kind of control stick the same way again.
His eyes lower to my chest. “Come sit on your throne, princess.”

Review

Loved it!

Melanie Munton delivered a fun & wonderful tale of second chances, acceptance, self-discovery, friendship & love. West & Harper were a couple I began rooting for from the first few pages, and I was so happy with their HEA. I loved their rivalry and enjoyed the pranks a lot!

I really liked West. He was a good friend and partner. He pushed Harper to step outside her mother’s expectations and live for herself. I was sold on him from their first interaction. Harper herself needed to work through some things, but eventually, she became the woman that West and her best friends knew she could be.

I’m loving this group of women so much! I can’t wait for book 3!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Melanie grew up in a small town in rural Missouri. After marrying her husband, she decided she wanted to try coastal life because why not? A few months later, they moved to North Carolina where she discovered her passion for writing, and they never looked back. They are now enjoying life with their beautiful daughter in Savannah, GA and loving every minute with their little Georgia peach.

Melanie’s other passion is traveling and seeing the world. With anthropology degrees under their belts, she and her husband have made it their goal in life to see as many archaeological sites around the world as possible.

She has a horrible food addiction to pasta and candy (not together…ew). And she gets sad when her wine rack is empty.

At the end of the day, she is a true romantic at heart. She loves writing the cheesy and corny of romantic comedies, and the sassy and sexy of suspense. She aims to make her readers swoon, laugh out loud, maybe sweat a little, and above all, fall in love.
