#ReviewBlitz: Final Draft by @kristie_leigh_ ~ #5stars

Release Date: September 9

To the public, I was known as Camden Freeman, the bad boy of the race world. The one who had it all, including women.

As a driver, I never liked to take things slow, and Lindsay was no exception.

I’d agreed to one night as a favor. But from the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had to have her, but it wasn’t until the final draft that I knew it was forever.

I was used to getting everything I wanted, but Lindsay was going to make me earn it every step of the way.

Review

Through friends, Camden & Lindsay end up as each other’s blind date to a charity event. Expecting a slightly awkward & uncomfortable night, both are surprised when they get along well with each other. For two commitment-phobic individuals, the desire to be with each other is more than a bit shocking.

I enjoyed this romance. Camden & Lindsay started out unsure, but as they each got over themselves, their romance unfurled in a really sweet way. Their romance reminds you that love can find you in the strangest ways, and at moments when you least expect it. Camden & Lindsay – even as their relationship hits snags and bumps – were always upfront with each other, and I liked that. There were no crazy, silly secrets between them.

I recommend this read. It has lots of humor, banter, love, steam and romance. You’ll love Lindsay & Camden as individuals, and together. I could hardly put it down.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

I’m a feisty redheaded Canadian/American who fell in love with romance novels when my friend Phil bought me a Kindle that hasn’t left my side since.
My favorite books to read are anything taboo and super sick and twisted. I’m not sure I will ever write anything dark, but I would love to give it a shot one day.

I live in South Florida with my high school sweetheart and three kids. I grew up in Burlington, ON, Canada but made the move to South Florida in 2013 and definitely don’t miss the snow.

I’m not sure where this writing journey will take me but either way, I know it will be a fun new adventure, and I’m super excited about it.

A Cocky Hero Club Novel
Author: Alexandria Sure
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are excited to bring you the Cocky Hero Club: original works from various authors inspired by Keeland and Ward’s New York Times bestselling Cocky Bastard series.
BLURB
My Thursday afternoon meeting was a no show. Imagine my surprise when a drenched, flustered brunette slipped into the booth across from me, acting like she was supposed to be there.
When she slipped back out with a snappy goodbye, I never thought I’d see her again.
Until I walked into my Friday morning meeting.
At first, I didn’t recognize her—she was dry this time. But from the look on her face, she recognized me.
When she gave the worst pitch I’ve ever sat through, I thought my boss, and mentor, was going to show her the door—except he accepts the proposal and tells me we have to work together.
I didn’t anticipate I would like her, let alone be interested in her. Sure, she was hot and sassy.
But something about her rubbed me the wrong way.
And yet I couldn’t stop thinking about her.
So, when she leaves the room and her phone chimes with a new text, I knew I wasn’t supposed to look.
I also knew I wasn’t supposed to cancel her date for later that evening.
And I definitely knew I wasn’t supposed to delete the entire exchange, so she had no idea what I’d done.
But I did. And then I showed up at the restaurant, pretending like this was all a big coincidence.
When the date is over, I want more. I need more.
We start pretend-dating because she needs practice, and I tell myself, New York’s most eligible billionaire bachelor, that this is just a bit of fun.
What could possibly go wrong?
*Mister Manhattan is a contemporary enemies to lovers romance inspired by Stuck-Up Suit.

REVIEW
Jurnee Messer leaves Michigan not expecting her life to change spectacularly. After meeting a handsome but extremely rude man, she’s sure that New York is a bust. But after seeing her hot man again in the last place she expects, and securing an extremely lucrative deal, she’s worried that it’s all too good to be true.

Anderson Douglas is so accustomed to women seeing dollar signs when they’re together. Something about Jurnee tells him that she’s different, and as they spend time together, it’s confirmed. But will his tendency to fix everything be the undoing of their not-yet-solid relationship?

I found myself devouring this read, but there was something missing. I loved Jurnee – her innocence hid a strong, determined woman. Anderson is a hero I found very hard to like. I found myself liking his friends more. Also, Alexandria Sure left the readers to figure out little bits and pieces in the story, and with the ton of characters, it was a challenge. Jurnee & Anderson seemed to be heading for some major passion in the bedroom, but again, the author literally wrote a sentence on it. A. Sentence. Gah!

Despite the disjointed romance, this book was easy to read, and difficult to put down. You’ll be completely invested in Jurnee & Anderson’s HEA before you know it.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

#ReleaseBlitz: Perfect For You by @LeaColl2 ~ 4.5 stars

Perfect for You by Lea Coll is now live!

What starts as a blind date makes them see so much more…

REID
Football.  It’s who I am; it’s what I do.

But one blind date changes everything. I was prepared for a crazed fan–a cleat chaser.  But Dylan Gannon is far from that.  She’s a gorgeous, charismatic woman who always gets what she wants.  This time, she wants me.

Thankfully, the date, a publicity stunt, is just for show.  Dylan Gannon is the exact opposite of what I want.  This woman craves attention, drawing people to her like a moth to a flame.  And I have no intention of getting burned.

After all, I have a secret that I’ll never reveal–not even to an irresistible woman like her.

DYLAN
Reid Everson is the perfect spokesman for my charity.

I’ll do anything to persuade the sexy football star. I will stroke his ego, flirt a little, and promise him good publicity. But, he’s nothing like the other men I’ve known. Reid wants nothing to do with me. With his quiet and brooding focus on sports, he’s a challenge I plan to win.

It’s time for me to open up–and show him the real me.  Despite our differences, he’ll see I’m perfect for him.

Review

Caught in the endless loop of work and family, both Reid and Dylan almost miss something beautiful right in front of them.

Dylan is committed to ensuring that she is always nearby in the event her family needs her. She keeps much of her private life just that – private – because she’s unsure whether her friends or a potential significant other would understand just how deep her commitment goes. But when she gets to see the real man behind the football god status – Reid – she is floored. Can she let him in as far as he has let her in to his personal life?

Nothing haunts you like the words you don’t say.”

Reid doesn’t trust easily. A man of few words, he’s found it more comforting to stay in the shadows, minding his tongue and ensuring that he uses his talent to make his family financially secure. When Dylan comes into his life, he’s shocked by how much he wants to ensure she stays there. She’s been patient with his insecurities, and seems to accept him, flaws and all. Is it for real, though? Will he be able to let her know how he feels, or will his penchant for quietness be his undoing?

This storyline is so unique that I found myself unwilling to put the book down. The author made Reid’s POV resonate with me. His insecurities were real and understandable. Dylan’s strength admirable, too, as well as relatable. As an only child, it’s hard to not want to fix as many things as you can for the people you love most.

This is another good book from Lea Coll, as well as a great addition to the Annapolis Harbor series. I recommend it.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Madden-Mills - Not My Romeo - 29324 -CV-FT-V

We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.

My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: he’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.

The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke—bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.

But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?

Review

In a sexy, endearing tale that begins with an entertaining case of mistaken identity, Ilsa Madden-Mills yet again delivers a masterpiece.

…broken people love the hardest…”

Having to constantly measure up while hiding the parts of herself that bring her happiness has been Elena’s life. When she finally goes against her intuition and goes on a blind date on Valentine’s Day, her world is rocked in a way she never saw coming.

Pretending that he’s strong, fearless and always in control has been Jack Hawke’s cover for the past 14 years. Afraid of the pain that he sees as love’s constant companion, he’s shut down emotionally, only giving the bare minimum to appear normal. But as his unexpected Valentine’s Day with Elena continues, he’s struck by the unfamiliar stirrings of want as well as a keen desperation to be in her space always.

Love means making yourself vulnerable; it means giving power to someone to hurt you.”

I really enjoyed this book. Two hearts – more alike than they first thought – finally realise that love with the right person makes it easier to let your guard down and be your true self.

I can’t wait to read the next in the series!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Excerpt:

I pull my white cat-eye glasses out of my purse and slide them on for a better look. My heart flip-flops as butterflies take flight in my stomach. Oh heck no. That can’t be him. He’s . . . he’s . . . freaking gorgeous, and I don’t mean regular handsome but like a movie star: dark hair swept off his face, the strands wavy and unruly with copper highlights, soft and silky brushing against his cheeks, and too long for a newscaster, in my opinion—but what do I know? I don’t own a television.

He lifts his arm to shove his hair back, and my eyes pop at the tightly roped muscles of his forearm and biceps straining through the fabric, the impossibly broad shoulders.

Well, would you look at that.

And this has to be him, right?

I’m in the right restaurant. He’s alone. He’s wearing a blue shirt. He has dark hair. Odds point to yes. Usually the most simple explanation is exactly what it appears. Therefore, he must be my date.

The man in question turns to look out the window, tapping his fingers on the table impatiently, and I take in his profile. Long straight nose, full dark arching eyebrows, and a sharp, bladed jawline. Sensuous lips, the lower one decadently full. Almost wicked. He’s the kind of hot that draws your eyes over and over just to make sure it’s not a mirage. I knew guys like him at NYU—sexy, athletic gym types who played a sport. And those types never gave me a second look. I’d watch them work out while I fumbled my way around one of those god-awful butterfly machines, while beautiful, tall, svelte girls who weren’t sweating fawned over them, bringing them towels, water bottles, and sexy promises.

He takes a sip of an amber liquid, long tanned fingers grasping the fragile container as his eyes rove across the room. They prowl around the restaurant, as if he’s assessing every person in sight, and I feel the sizzle of him even from twenty feet away. Prickles of awareness skate down my spine. I’m the alpha, his body language yells. Come and challenge me.

His gaze drifts right over me without stopping.

Not surprised.

I duck back into the shadows.

Dang it. My hands clench. I wanted nice and nerdy, not this . . . sexy beast!

And judging by the scowl on his face, he’s grumpy. Life’s too short to be dour, Mister. And what is he annoyed about? I am here!

And he did see a picture of me. Topher said so.

Yeah, maybe he doesn’t really want to meet you.

Maybe he’s hoping you won’t show up.

I tap my foot. I should leave. Really.

The smells of Milano’s waft around me, spicy and tantalizing, and my stomach lets out an angry howl. I move from one foot to the next. Every place to eat between here and Daisy is going to be packed. I could always hit a drive-through on the way back home—but how pathetic is a Big Mac and fries on Valentine’s Day? Plus, I’ll have my entire nosy family to answer to tomorrow. They’ve built up this blind date so much: Oooooh, Elena has a date with a weatherman. Ask him if that’s a barometer in his pocket or if he’s just glad to see you.

I give myself a mental pep talk.

Grow some balls, Elena.

Sometimes you have to go out and take what you want.

So what if he’s hot enough to suck the dew off a rose.

You are hungry. Do it for the pasta.

He is your date. Go get ’em, girl.

I gather my resolve, point my little black pumps in his direction, and start marching.

Trixie Donovan had been born stupid.

Okay, not so much intellectually inept as born with a stupid name. Named after her flighty mother’s favorite pooch, Trixie had spent most of her life fending off comments of her canine similarities from her siblings.

They thought they were hilarious, and she thought . . .

Well, there was a reason she’d moved to the opposite side of the globe and it wasn’t because she was close with her family.

She’d left California for bigger and better things then had kept on moving, putting her nursing skills to use to help people all over the world. But living without reliable electricity or clean water or hell, the internet had grown old.

Now she was back. She’d finally figured out what Netflix was, though she was still iffy on Tinder, and she’d become her half-sister Heather’s new pet project.

Isn’t that what happily married people did? Tried to marry off everyone around them because they were so sickeningly content that they couldn’t stand the thought of someone they knew not being in the same position.

So anyway, Heather pestered and Trix gave in, agreeing to a single blind date.

But then that blind date turned out to be Jet.

Jet, the doctor she’d worked with halfway around the world. The man she’d slept with and then had fallen desperately in love with. The one who, in cliché naïve female fashion, had decimated her heart. And the one who transformed an unwanted, but tolerable night out into the blind date from hell.

Because apparently Jet had decided his biggest regret was letting her go.

Review

I really enjoyed this “Bad” book.

Anticipating a closer relationship with her sister by moving home, Trixie is surprised to see that one of her bad decisions has followed her to San Francisco in the form of Jet Hansen. A mistake she’d rather forget, he shows no sign of going away quietly.

Jet had his reasons for leaving, but as he really gets to know Trixie again, he realises that she’s the type of woman he’d better not leave behind again. But will the past prove stronger than his current advances?

Both Jet & Trixie have traumatic childhoods that screwed with their lives. Yet, it is this same trauma that makes them perfect for each other. I liked the way they talked things out – their banter was top notch!

Elise Faber has given me another good read. She stirs up emotions in a unique way that guarantees that I’ll be back for the next book.
